According to the report, TOS-1A combat systems were sent to the military as part of the state defense order, the number of transferred equipment is not called. Since recently there has been no information on the conclusion of contracts for the production of new TOS-1A systems, but there is a contract for the modernization of vehicles already delivered to the troops, it means that another batch of improved Solntsepekov went to the military.

As previously reported, as part of the modernization developed at Omsktransmash, the complexes receive modern launching equipment, improved built-in dynamic protection, a GPS / Glonass navigation system and new modification caterpillars with direct grouser. Other details of the modernization are not disclosed, perhaps they relate to the installation of a new communication system and equipment for a closed data transmission segment, which allows integrating TOS into automatic control systems (ACS) of the tactical level. Also, do not forget that TOS-1 and TOS-1A should receive long-range ammunition from TOS-2 (Tosochki).

TOS-1A "Sun" is actively used by Russian troops in the framework of a special military operation in Ukraine. Since the range of destruction of these systems is only 6 km, the complexes work together with tanks, which cover them while firing at the enemy. Since the enemy specifically hunts for flamethrower systems, after a volley the vehicle quickly changes its location, leaving to reload, and the tankers continue to perform combat missions.
