Author in a major British publication: As we approach nuclear war, we are fueling conflict in Ukraine, not trying to achieve peace
The major British edition of the Daily Mail came out with a publication in which the author asks the British government questions about the specific purpose for which London is militarily helping Ukraine. The article was written by columnist Peter Hitchens.
He writes that, being a British patriot, he is not going to "shy away from a fight." And at the same time, Hitchens frankly writes that the world is approaching nuclear war.
From the material in the British edition:
The British observer writes that Britain has ceased to be an open society, otherwise these questions would be asked openly and constantly.
The author writes that he is asking the authorities about how close the war in Ukraine is to "setting Europe on fire" and how close to spilling over to the UK.
Peter Hitchens notes that at one time, British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher was, to put it mildly, not enthusiastic about Ukrainian nationalism raising its head. When representatives of one of the nationalist organizations in 1990 turned to Thatcher with a question about the possible opening of a British embassy in Kyiv, she replied that it was as impossible as opening a British embassy in Quebec or California.
The author writes that "Western authorities were not interested" in the fact that eventually power in Ukraine passed "from Soviet despots to local despots." Hitchens argues that the West's goal has always been to build democracy, but not at all what Ukraine has since become.
The material cites the statement of the American neo-conservative Robert Kagan:
