Russian expert named new areas of possible sanctions against Russia

According to Andrei Kortunov, director general of the Russian Council on International Affairs, the West has already used everything possible to put pressure on Russia. Some of the measures taken harm the West itself. Now, Kortunov believes, any Western measures will primarily harm the Western countries themselves.

Russian political scientist in an interview Tape.ru spoke out about what else the United States and the European Union can do against Moscow in order to force it to stop the special operation in Ukraine.

Kortunov is confident that any further action will be taken only after long and painstaking negotiations within Western countries and weighing the economic implications.

At the same time, the expert noted that the main emphasis will be placed not on the introduction of new sanctions, but on a more strict and effective implementation of the restrictions already imposed against Moscow.

According to Kortunov, the EU and the US will increase pressure on third countries to support sanctions in every possible way. The West will try to deprive Russia of income from parallel imports. In a word, the US and Europe will do everything to make the whole world play to their tune on the issue of anti-Russian sanctions.

The United States has already announced that it will strengthen restrictive measures against Russia in response to the referendums held in the Kherson region, in the Zaporozhye region and in the Donbass.
