Berlusconi: Rome must cut gas supplies from Russia to Italy faster than Moscow does
69
Italians need to stop importing Russian energy resources. Moreover, Rome must interrupt gas supplies from Russia to Italy faster than Moscow does.
This proposal was made by the former head of the Italian government and leader of the Forward, Italy! Silvio Berlusconi during an interview with Il Foglio newspaper.
To their question about whether the former head of government supports the demand of other Italian political movements, whose leadership wants to cancel gas imports from the Russian Federation, Berlusconi answered in the affirmative. At the same time, he added that before disconnecting from Russian gas, the authorities should take care of sources that could replace it. The politician believes that Italy should create LNG terminals and waste-to-energy plants.
Berlusconi also calls on the current Italian authorities to invest in renewable energy, as well as in the construction of nuclear power plants, and only after that raise the issue of refusing gas from Russia.
Then we can end the addiction that gives us obvious problems.
- said the ex-premier.
Earlier, Russian political expert Anatoly Ivanov said that of all European countries, only Germany, which has the strongest economy compared to other EU members, is able to cope with the energy crisis due to gas shortages. The rest of the EU states will not be able to do this.
