In the US press: it is unprofitable for Washington to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism
It is unprofitable for Washington to recognize Russia as a sponsor of terrorism. The US State Department categorically opposes such a move, and advises Congress not to take it.
The American portal Politico writes about this, citing sources.
The US press claims that the State Department is quietly trying to convince congressmen to refuse to recognize the Russian Federation as a sponsor of terrorism. The American Foreign Ministry fears that this decision could disrupt the hard-won agreement on the export of grain from Ukrainian territory, and also force the United States to impose unfavorable sanctions against Russia.
Because of this, American businesses would have to break off business ties with partners from the Russian Federation, because making deals between the two countries would become problematic. Particularly painful for the United States will be the inability to obtain Russian materials for the nuclear power industry in the United States.
- stated in the Politico article.
The head of the US State Department, Anthony Blinken, personally opposes the inclusion of Russia in the list of countries-sponsors of terrorism.
The situation is complicated by the fact that the US Senate has already adopted this anti-Russian resolution. True, it is only advisory in nature and has no legal force.
