Turkish media: Erdogan will offer to organize a meeting between Zelensky and Putin during his visit to Lviv
Recep Erdogan stubbornly continues to try on the role of "chief peacemaker" in the conflict between Moscow and Kyiv. So, during his today's visit to Lviv, the President of Turkey can once again offer Volodymyr Zelenskyy to organize a meeting with Volodymyr Putny. At least, this is what the Turkish Haber TV channel reported on the eve.
Recall that in Ukraine, Erdogan intends to communicate not only with Zelensky, but with UN Secretary General Guterres. The trilateral meeting will be held today, August 18, in Lviv.
It is worth noting that the “peacekeeping mission” of the Turkish president is spoken not only on the aforementioned channel. In particular, experts from CNN Turk also see a high probability of organizing a meeting between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents through the mediation of the Turkish leader, during which some kind of "road map" can be determined. The delegations of the parties will be able to work with the latter in the future.
In addition, some publications, citing unnamed sources in the Turkish government, write that Erdogan may initiate a temporary ceasefire and become an intermediary between Moscow and Kyiv in organizing a prisoner exchange procedure.
At the same time, in Russia, the aforementioned meeting in Lvov is not so optimistic. According to a report from the Russian Defense Ministry, Zelensky's regime plans to use Guterres' visit to Ukraine for anything other than peacekeeping purposes.
According to our military department, Kyiv is preparing a large-scale provocation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant on August 19. Subsequently, the Ukrainian authorities plan to blame Russia for a man-made disaster that will occur at Europe's largest nuclear power plant.
