Airborne defense complex "Vitebsk" will be modernized taking into account the experience of use in a special operation in Ukraine

The Vitebsk helicopter airborne defense system will be modernized taking into account the experience of using it as part of a special military operation. This was reported in the concern "Radioelectronic Technologies" (KRET).

According to Alexander Pan, General Director of the Concern, the Concern's specialists have already begun work on improving the Vitebsk complexes, taking into account the experience of the Northern Military District. As noted, the complex showed high efficiency, significantly increasing the survivability of rotorcraft. All attack helicopters participating in the special operation are equipped with this complex.

We have feedback on the use of complexes of the Vitebsk series. Based on the recommendations received, we are improving them.

It should be noted that this modernization is not the first, in 2017 the Ministry of Defense decided to carry out a deep modernization of Vitebsk, taking into account the combat experience of using helicopters in Syria. The updated complex began to enter the troops in 2018.

Aviation the Vitebsk personal protection complex was developed using digital technology and performs the role of protecting aircraft and helicopters from guided missiles and man-portable anti-aircraft missile systems by setting up optical and electronic interference. The complex includes decoy ejection devices, ultraviolet and infrared direction finders for launching MANPADS, an optoelectronic jamming station and a radar jamming station (EW system), laser radiation detection equipment. The first deliveries of the complex to the Russian troops began in 2015.

As a result, due to different subordination, columns of troops often go without cover from turntables. Although many military conflicts have shown that this is unacceptable. Even in the USSR, everything was invented that the advancing army should cover me with turntables, from enemy ground forces, and from attack and bomber aircraft - with light fighters (Mig-23 and Mig-29). Which do not solve the issues of gaining air supremacy, but can perfectly shoot down bombers, turntables, attack aircraft, drones. Moreover, the same Bayraktars that were used on our columns could well have been intercepted not even instantly, but by the cover helicopters themselves.
Inside motorized rifle / tank divisions, it would definitely be possible to have a couple of aviation regiments, a helicopter regiment and a drone regiment, but even in a brigade it would be possible to keep a consolidated "air wing", from UAVs and 12-20 strike and 4-8 transport-combat vehicles, who could provide the brigade and logistics, especially when there is no united front, and evacuate the wounded, for example, or quickly take them to the rear, high-ranking enemy officers, if the intelligence units managed to capture them ...
And the shock machines are attached to the battalion of the brigade. 3 motorized rifle and tank - that is, at least 4 pairs of turntables, plus a reserve ... And better, of course, 8 pairs + a reserve ...
