Lithuania will train Ukrainian military personnel in the use of Western weapons
23
Lithuania has decided to provide assistance to Ukraine by training the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the use of NATO-standard weapons. As the Minister of Defense of the Republic Arvydas Anusauskas stated, the military department of Lithuania organizes special courses for Ukraine.
The Lithuanian military will conduct courses for servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in five different specialties, which are not exactly disclosed. The training will take place on the territory of Lithuania, it will take six months and should begin this month. In total, during this period, the Lithuanians pledged to train 150 Ukrainian soldiers. Moreover, it is emphasized that the program of the Lithuanian Ministry of Defense involves the training of already trained military personnel, and not recruits.
Already in August, we are starting five courses for Ukrainians... Without training, efficiency weapons below, so we would like to provide support specifically by training specialists. Not from scratch at all, but specifically specialists with specialization in specific weapons used by Ukrainians and the Lithuanian army
- the minister said.
However, Lithuania decided not to limit itself to this program alone, Lithuanian military instructors went to the UK to train Ukrainian military personnel to fight there as part of the British “breakthrough” training program for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As explained in Vilnius, the British do not have enough military instructors to train Ukrainian recruits, so Lithuania decided to help the UK.
Lithuania also helps the UK, sends its instructors there to train the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, because more (instructors) are needed to train from scratch
Anusauskas added.
