Gas prices in Europe again exceeded 2,5 thousand dollars

Gas prices in Europe again exceeded 2,5 thousand dollars

Once again, the forecasts of international experts that gas prices in August will drop to the lowest level since the end of February have not come true. It was predicted that in mid-August this year, exchange prices for gas in Europe would not exceed $850. However, nothing of the kind happens. And 1000 cubic meters of "blue fuel" in the European market is traded for more than 2,5 thousand dollars, which is almost three times higher than the forecasts.

This indicates that the filling level of gas storage facilities in the European Union is not at all at the levels that were expected. In a number of countries, the storage facilities are at best 50-60% full, although by this time the volumes usually exceeded 80-90% - in preparation for the autumn-winter period.

The situation with gas supply in Germany is close to critical. The Scholz government once again failed negotiations with Qatar. Moreover, the "reliable partner" and "follower of the most important European values" - Norway - announced that the situation is difficult for it, and therefore it will not be able to supply "blue fuel" in the volumes desired by Berlin to Germany. And why should Norwegian companies carry out such deliveries, because at prices of 2,5 thousand dollars, Oslo can receive enormous super profits without straining.

Energy experts say that if gas storages in Europe are not filled within the next month, then by winter the price of 2,5 thousand dollars per 1000 cubic meters will seem “low”. Now the trend is new forecasts for January 2023, according to which gas in the EU can be sold at prices of 3,5-4 thousand dollars per 1 thousand cubic meters.

Against this background, even in those German publications that are difficult to suspect of sympathy for Russia, materials began to appear calling for Olaf Scholz to quickly decide to start operating the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. Recall that the gas pipeline is under pressure, and therefore, at any time, gas can go through it to European consumers. There is one "but". The European bureaucracy found itself in captivity of its own sanctions imposed against Russia and blocking the work of SP-2. In this regard, the phrase was born that the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is becoming weapons not the Kremlin against Europe, but Europe's weapon against itself - and in this case, the gas pipeline is not working.

Why so difficult? It is necessary for VVP and Edik to drink a cup of tea, or even two, and agree that Turkey will be "offended" by Russia, well, or by Europe for the fact that Ankara does not extradite Kurdish terrorists, and screw the valve on the transit branch of the Turkish flow, which not so long ago the GDP mentioned in the sense that "Europe should be grateful that" TP "works reliably and without failures," like a clock. If today the “anchor” of this watch “unintentionally” gets screwed up, then tomorrow gas in Europe will cost all 5-6 thousand per thousand cubic meters. winked

Germany is practically the only one who received gas under a long-term contract with a fixed price in the region of $280, all the rest terminated contracts through the courts back in 2020 after Poland's demarche, when they decided to purchase by spot. Then the price on the exchange was around $ 80. After the "covid" in 2021, Asian countries again began to actively purchase energy resources and the price sharply overcame $ 1000 and continues to grow.
Here is an example of electricity prices in European countries with a difference of 1,5 weeks (per megawatt).

And what about Hungary? She seems to have a long-term contract with a decently low price.
Everyone else can now say: "Are you warm, girl?" And it's not too early, From such prices it can quite throw in the heat.

Yes, the Hungarians have a long-term contract on the oil formula, the cost is obtained from the average oil price over the past 3 months. The price on February 1 was the lowest for them, after the next energy package of sanctions, Hungary will be able to receive gas at this price only through the Turkish Stream, through Ukraine only by reverse from Austria, if I’m not mistaken, but it turns out to be more expensive.

Hungary seems to need just 5 billion cubic meters a year, and at a fixed contract price, i.e. in current European prices for almost a penny. Naturally, she will sell the surplus to her "cunning" non-brothers in the European Union for quite decent money at spot prices, because it would be a sin not to make money on their own foolishness.

There is no fixed price there. And "280" is no longer there today, because. oil has risen in price. In those contracts, initially there was a link to the price of oil with a six-month lag. After the story with "Polish quirks," stock quotes began to be taken into account in gas tariffs. In different proportions with different countries. It’s just that it’s not realistic to find the texts of real contracts on the net ... Trade secret laughing

Medicine seems to be free too, but it’s like Zhvanetsky’s (you get free pills or those that treat).
Gas, it's better not to stir up this topic. At the beginning of the year, 25% of the territory in the Tver region was gasified (and this is in the region, which is located between the two capitals). And if about the cost, then find out how much gas costs in Kazakhstan or Belarus.

In the meantime, we will produce electricity with coal.
Scholz turned into a specialist in the condition of gas pumping units, immediately declares that everything is in order with us and the storage facilities are already 75% full, but we need to drastically reduce current gas consumption to 15-20%, etc.

which is absolutely normal for August

the norm, then it is the norm ... just remember the heating season 2020-2021 before last - "The volume of withdrawal has become a record since 2011. The previous maximum was recorded in 2017-2018, when Europe was covered by the Beast from the East. Winter season 2020-2021. left only 29% of gas reserves in UGS facilities in Europe.... At the same time, in Germany and Austria - 26% each, in the Netherlands - 23%, in France - 17%... https://neftegaz.ru/news/transport- and-storage/674464-iz-pkhg-evropy-byl-otobran-rekordnyy-za-10-let-obem-gaza/
only then both SP-1 and Yamal-Europe worked in the winter as they say to the fullest + the Ukrainian GTS with the then 60 billion a year ... now Yamal-Europe is standing, SP-1 turbines, Ukraine has one branch left from Sunzha .. The Poles have already calculated that their gas will run out already in December (Polish Onet.pl.) and this, with their UGS filling up to 90%, it’s somehow not very good in winter without a pipe ... But gas is very expensive - consumption will fall, but also " Beast from the East" or calm - so let's see what the balance will be ...

"Theirs" prices mean receipts from sales of Russian gas.

You don’t understand the pricing policy a little, the price of $ 2500 is the price for the end consumer in a few months, and not the price of gas under the contract for which the same Gazprom or Equinor sold it, here it must be taken into account that this amount includes transportation and storage, processing, etc. .d. plus the profit of the seller, intermediaries and the operator who sells gas to the population and businesses. Only Ukraine will get its $2.66 from 1000 cubic meters for pumping

PS: Gazprom predicts that by winter the price will rise to $4000
There is no more gas on the market, so countries are trying to rush to buy by winter and fill their storage facilities, according to EU energy security rules, their filling should be at least 80% by November 1 of the year, so they buy up and resell the same gas several times.
