In the US press: Military cooperation between Iran and Russia is a good reason for strengthening missile defense in Europe
Military cooperation between Iran and Russia is a good reason for strengthening missile defense in Europe. Washington considers it a serious cause for concern.
Azriel Bermant, a senior fellow at the Prague Institute of International Relations, expressed this opinion in his article for the American magazine Foreign Policy.
The US press notes that Tehran not only morally supports the Russian military special operation in Ukraine, but also helps to carry it out to a certain extent. In particular, Bermant claims that the Russian Armed Forces receive from Iran reconnaissance and strike Drones. Thus, according to the author, Tehran is becoming a threat not only to Israel and a number of other Middle Eastern countries, but also to Europeans.
At the same time, the author notes that the Iranian threat lies not only in the fact that weapons from this country will end up in the hands of the Russian military. Bermant believes that, having become a full-fledged military ally of Russia, Tehran is able to use its missile weapon against European countries, carrying out launches from its territory, because most of Europe is within the range of its medium-range ballistic missiles. This weapon was successfully tested back in 2018.
Based on this, the author comes to the conclusion that NATO should urgently strengthen its missile defense in Europe.
