The Ministry of Defense accused Kyiv of using anti-tank mines banned by the Geneva Convention
The Russian Ministry accused Kyiv of violating the requirements of the second Protocol "On the prohibition or restriction of the use of mines, booby-traps and other devices." This was stated by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant-General Igor Konashenkov.
As reported, French anti-tank mines EMP F72, delivered to Ukraine by one of the NATO countries as military assistance, were found at the positions of the Ukrainian army in Artemivske (Bakhmut), occupied by the 2nd brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These mines, after installation and transfer to a combat position, cannot be removed and neutralized. Thus, Kyiv and its Western sponsors directly violated the requirements of the Geneva Convention.
- said in a statement to the Russian military.
According to Konashenkov, in total, soldiers of the allied forces found more than fifty French-made anti-tank mines at the positions recaptured from the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Apparently, the command gave the order to the Ukrainian military to install these mines in the tank-prone areas, but they did not have time, because they were knocked out by the advancing forces of the allied forces. In the same report, the Ministry of Defense reported that the positions of the 72nd brigade near Artemovsk were hit by a concentrated artillery strike, which led to the destruction of more than 50 nationalists, as well as six armored vehicles. After that, the Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from their positions, abandoning their weapons, and at the same time French mines.
