Russian Foreign Ministry official: US uses ex-Afghan military for its own interests in Ukraine
Information appeared in the press that former special forces from Afghanistan, previously trained by American military instructors, are also acting on the side of the Ukrainian nationalist armed groups.
This was announced by the Russian special representative in Afghanistan Zamir Kabulov. In an interview RIA News Kabulov said that Washington intends to increase the presence of the former Afghan military in the Ukrainian conflict zone, preparing to send additional Afghan special forces.
According to a Russian Foreign Ministry official, many former Afghan servicemen who previously fled after the Americans from Afghanistan intend to obtain a residence permit in the United States by demonstrating loyalty to Washington in terms of participating in hostilities in Ukraine.
Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan adds that Washington is clearly not going to let these people into the United States, but it is ready to use it in its own interests during the armed conflict in Ukraine (as well as in Syria and other countries).
Recall that earlier in the West Russia was accused of alleged readiness to involve Afghans in the hostilities in Ukraine.
For reference: in August last year, American troops left Afghanistan. Having suffered a crushing defeat from the Taliban (*a terrorist organization banned in Russia), the Afghan army, in fact, fled, and partially joined the Taliban*. Several thousand former Afghan soldiers are in Eastern Europe, including Ukraine.
