German media: Bundeswehr suspends its mission in Mali due to problems with local authorities

The German army (Bundeswehr) suspends its mission in Mali due to problems with local authorities. In particular, the military from Germany stopped intelligence operations for the UN and mainly focused on ensuring their own security.
This is reported by the German magazine Der Spiegel, referring to an employee of the Ministry of Defense.
So far, the troops should not be withdrawn
- says the source.
True, the German media has information about the likely transfer of the German military to another African country - Niger.
Today, the authorities of Mali banned the arrival of the aircraft of the MINUSMA peacekeeping mission under the auspices of the UN into the country. This decision led to the disruption of the rotation of the German military, although it would seem that everything was agreed in advance. A few days ago, a representative of the German Foreign Ministry, Christian Buk, arrived in Africa to resolve the issues of rotation, and yesterday Malian Defense Minister Sadio Camara confirmed this in a telephone conversation with his German counterpart Christina Lambrecht. Despite all this, the Malian authorities refused to accept the plane.
In 2020, a coup d'état took place in this African country. After that, the West African neighbors closed their borders and imposed sanctions on Mali, supported by Paris and Washington. And since 2022, several European states and Canada have begun to withdraw their military contingents from the country.
