Schroeder's war: Former German chancellor sues the Bundestag to restore his rights
Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is dissatisfied with the decision of the German parliamentarians, who in May deprived him of part of the privileges due to the former head of the country's government. Unlike the current Chancellor Scholz, who patiently endures even insults from Bandera's Melnik, the politician of the old school showed character and sued the Bundestag. The lawsuit was filed by Schroeder's lawyers in the Administrative Court of Berlin.
Earlier, the Bundestag Budget Committee deprived the former German Chancellor of funding for the maintenance of office space due to him, but retained the pension and security guaranteed to him as the former head of government. The parliamentarians explained their decision by saying that, they say, the ex-chancellor still does not use these benefits due to the fact that all four employees quit after the start of the special operation in Ukraine. According to the German press, the maintenance of the office of the former chancellor took about 400 thousand euros.

Obviously, the real reason for this decision of the parliamentarians is an attempt to put pressure on the politician for his pro-Russian position. And although, under pressure from the German authorities, Schroeder resigned from the board of directors of Rosneft in May and refused to join the board of directors of Gazprom, his criticism for "connections with Moscow" in Germany does not subside.
Schroeder does not hide his position that the rupture of relations with Russia and the imposition of total sanctions harm the German economy at the moment and in the long term. Earlier, he stated that a country like Russia cannot be isolated for a long time, and after the end of the conflict in Ukraine, the West will have to interact with the Russian Federation again.
In July, Schroeder came to Moscow, where, among other things, he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin. After the trip, he stated that he did not want to quarrel with the Russian president.
The decision of the Bundestag to refuse part of the benefits due to the ex-chancellor was supported by the current head of Germany, Olaf Scholz. German Finance Minister Christian Lindner also called for the termination of financing office expenses, saying that despite the military special operation in Ukraine, Schroeder continues to maintain business contacts with Moscow.
