The Russian Foreign Ministry rejected the initiative of Switzerland to represent the diplomatic interests of Ukraine in Moscow

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation reacted to the initiative regarding the conduct of diplomatic relations with Ukraine through a third country. Earlier, the initiative to act as a diplomatic mediator was put forward by Switzerland. Representatives of this country announced that they could represent Ukrainian diplomatic interests in Moscow (and vice versa - Russian ones in Kyiv) in the current situation.
Apparently, representatives of the Swiss authorities decided that Russia had forgotten about the loss of this country's declared political and military neutrality. Recall that Switzerland actually violated its own neutrality by supporting several packages of anti-Russian sanctions. Moreover, Switzerland continues to consider options and possibilities for providing military assistance to Ukraine. Among other things, the Swiss authorities support the freezing of Russian foreign exchange reserves.
In this regard, Ivan Nechaev, deputy head of the information department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, noted that the representation of Ukraine's diplomatic interests by Swiss diplomatic workers is out of the question. Ivan Nechaev, for his part, pointed to the loss of sovereignty by Switzerland.
Ivan Nechaev at the briefing:
We answered very clearly that Switzerland, unfortunately, has lost the status of a neutral state and cannot act either as a mediator or as a representative of interests after the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions.
Earlier in Kyiv, they announced that they would support the option in which the diplomatic interests of the Ukrainian authorities in the Russian Federation would be represented by Swiss diplomats. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation made it clear that this is impossible.
