The United States detected Russian aircraft in the air defense identification zone in Alaska, sending F-22 fighters to intercept
Over the past few days, the United States has twice established the fact of the appearance of a Russian aircraft in the identification zone of the air defense of the state of Alaska. It is reported by CNN.
According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), on Monday, a Russian aircraft entered the Alaska Air Defense Identification Zone twice. In both cases, we are talking about a reconnaissance aircraft. NORAD flew F-22 fighter planes to intercept a Russian reconnaissance aircraft.
At the same time, the Pentagon did not consider the very fact of the appearance of Russian aircraft in the Alaska Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) an escalation in relations between the two states. The US military department did not make any statements about this event.
Recall that the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) is a joint aerospace command of the United States and Canada and is responsible for aerospace security in the North American region, including from the state of Alaska. The Russian Armed Forces are considered in this direction as the main potential adversary of the US Armed Forces. Therefore, any flights of Russian aircraft near American borders are carefully monitored and recorded.
On the other hand, American reconnaissance aircraft and AWACS aircraft are regularly in the sky over the Black Sea, carrying out reconnaissance and collecting information about the actions of the Black Sea fleet Russia and the Russian armed forces in the area of the Crimean peninsula. The collected information is then transferred not only to the Pentagon, but also to the command of the Ukrainian armed forces. Against this background, the appearance of a reconnaissance aircraft in the visibility zone of the American air defense does not really look like a serious incident.
