The tenth RTO project 21631 "Buyan-M" began the transition to the Baltic for testing
The tenth RTO "Grad" project 21631 "Buyan-M" will soon join the Baltic fleet. The ship began its transition to the delivery base of the Baltic Fleet. This was reported by the press service of the Zelenodolsk shipbuilding plant.
According to the report, on August 10, 2022, the Grad RTO left the outfitting wall of the Zelenodolsk Shipyard and was towed to Kronstadt, where the delivery base of the Baltic Fleet is located. The ship will have to go through all stages of factory sea trials and state tests, after which it will become part of the 36th RTO Brigade, which includes the 1st Guards Missile Boat Battalion and the 106th Small Missile Ship Battalion. The ceremony of raising the Andreevsky flag should take place before the end of the year.
Soon, the eleventh RTO of this Naro-Fominsk project, which is also being completed in Zelenodolsk, should also go to the delivery base.
To date, the Russian Navy has nine RTOs of project 21631 "Buyan-M", two are being completed in Zelenodolsk, one went for testing. In more detail, the tenth Grad went to the Baltic, the eleventh Naro-Fominsk and the twelfth Stavropol are being completed in Zelenodolsk. The fleet will receive the Naro-Fominsk in 2022, the Stavropol in 2023. On this, a series of small missile ships this project will be completed.
The ships of the project 21631 "Buyan-M" are the modernization of the project 21630 "Buyan" and belong to the multipurpose ships of the "river-sea" class. Designed to protect the economic zone of the state. The main armament is the Kalibr-NK long-range universal missile system for eight vertical silos. Displacement 949 tons. Length 74,1 meters, width 11,0 meters, height 6,57 meters, draft 2,6 meters. The maximum speed is 25 knots. Cruising range - 2500 miles, autonomy - 10 days. Crew - 52 people. A water-jet propulsion unit is installed.
