Ukraine stopped the transit of Russian oil to Eastern Europe: the reason is named
The operator of the system of main oil pipelines in Ukraine, JSC Ukrtransnafta, has stopped pumping Russian oil through the southern branch of the Druzhba oil pipeline system towards Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Pumping in this direction stopped on 4 August. At the same time, transit through Belarus in the direction of Poland and Germany continues.
- says the official statement of the Russian trunk operator PJSC Transneft.
Oil transit through the territory of Ukraine is carried out on the terms of 100% prepayment. However, the next tranche, which the Russian company transferred to the account of Ukrtransnafta on July 22, was returned. According to Transneft, the payment was not accepted due to EU sanctions. According to the seventh anti-Russian package of restrictions adopted by the EU, European banks are no longer authorized to independently decide on the possibility of conducting a particular operation.
- explained the situation in PJSC Transneft.
The Russian operator informed the Ministry of Energy of Russia, JSC Ukrtransnafta and Russian shippers supplying resources in the direction of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia about problems with oil transit. At the moment, Transneft is looking for options to resolve the issue of paying for transit with the permission of the European regulator, or in an alternative way.
The incident once again demonstrates how the rash sanctions policy of Western countries punishes not only themselves, but also Ukraine, for the sake of which everything seems to have been started. Trying with all their might to harm Russia, the EU countries are increasingly driving themselves into political and economic dead ends, from which they are then forced to get out at the cost of truly heroic efforts.
