The lack of weapons forces the Armed Forces of Ukraine to switch to improvised MLRS
Despite the military assistance coming from Western countries, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are faced with a shortage of weapons, which, in turn, forces the Ukrainian military to actively use various homemade handicrafts.
A video of the use of self-made short-range multiple rocket launchers by the Armed Forces of Ukraine has appeared on the Web. Two installations of MLRS "a la Mujahid" stopped on the road bravo fire unguided rockets, and joyful Ukrainian servicemen run around. Previously, such videos very often came from Syria, where militants also used similar "jihadmobiles".
Judging by the video, this MLRS is a pickup truck with a Soviet launcher installed in the back. aviation unguided rockets S-8 caliber 80 mm. The appearance of these self-made MLRS is far from the first; Russian and Ukrainian resources have already reported about them. It is known that only a few such "jihadmobiles" were assembled on the basis of Mitsubishi L200 pickups donated by volunteers. Whether production will be continued, no one knows, all home-made MLRS have long been somewhere at the front.
The use of such reactive systems is to quickly attack, launch a rocket pack and quickly withdraw, i.e. a common militant tactic in the Middle East. The combat effectiveness of the use of such a MLRS is highly doubtful. Handicraft assembly and the lack of sighting systems do not guarantee that the fired missiles will hit the right place. But from the outside it looks effective. This is where all the benefits end.
It is worth noting that the very concept of mini-MLRS is quite workable, in Russia such systems are being developed. It is known that work on the new MLRS of 80 mm caliber is being carried out at NPO SPLAV named after A. N. Ganichev, also in 2018, the MLRS Sel of 80 mm caliber based on the UAZ Cargo vehicle was presented, and there are other developments.
