Employees of three American factories "Boeing", which produce military aircraft, went on strike
Representatives of the labor collectives of three factories of the American Boeing company at once announced that a large-scale strike would begin on August 1. We are talking about factories located in the states of Illinois and Missouri. Attention is drawn to the information due to the fact that these enterprises are actively producing military products - aircraft and drones various modifications both for the US Air Force and for "partner countries".
The workers are dissatisfied with the terms of the new contracts that they are offered to sign by management. Three-year contracts provide for reduced pension contributions. At the same time, management offers each employee a one-time bonus of up to $3 for switching to this pay option.
The labor collectives of the three Boeing factories believe that the new contracts can lead to the fact that the size of their pensions will decrease after reaching this very pension. According to estimates, the reduction in size can be from 8 to 14%, depending on the position held. Moreover, ordinary workers will suffer the greatest losses in pension accruals.
More than 2,5 thousand employees of enterprises have rejected proposals for new employment contracts and are ready to join the strike.
How long the announced strike will last is not clear. It is important that the reduction in pension contributions for employees of the Boeing factories is announced against the backdrop of another record in the volume of the US military budget. The budget is growing at an incredible pace, and, as they themselves believe, fraud is being carried out with the financial support of employees of defense enterprises. This gives reason to the opponents of the current administration to talk about the lack of control over the allocated funds.
The strike of thousands of factory workers threatens to disrupt the production schedule of combat and reconnaissance aviation in the U.S..
