Tests of transport nuclear power plants in Russia: to the 60th anniversary of NITI
5
These days, one of the most closed research institutes in the country, NITI named after A.P. Aleksandrov, is celebrating its 60th anniversary. This is an institute (by the way, the only one in Russia) where full-scale tests of transport nuclear power plants (NPPs) are carried out. At NITI, on prototype stands, nuclear power plants are brought to a high level of reliability and safety. And the peculiarity of these stands is that they are full-scale.
One of the actively developing areas is the testing of installations for modern nuclear submarine missile carriers, one of the components of Russia's powerful nuclear shield. All tests of nuclear power plants for such submarines take place at this facility.
Since 2014, given the status and importance of work at this facility, NITI has the status of a Federal Nuclear Organization. The corresponding decree was then signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In fact, NITI is a city within a city. The Institute employs more than 2 employees, including Doctors and Candidates of Sciences - the true color of nuclear science, which incorporates a whole range of research areas.
On the channel "Star" in the issue of the Military Acceptance program, a material was published on the activities of this research institute:
