Germany blocked the allocation of a loan to Ukraine from the European Union in the amount of 9 billion euros
Zelensky and his advisers are furious, and in Kyiv there is increasing anger at Germany's actions. As it turned out, for a month now Berlin has been blocking the allocation of a package of assistance to Ukraine from the European Union in the amount of 9 billion euros.
Ukraine cannot receive a loan from the EU, which Zelensky was promised by the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen. In total, by the end of 2022, Kyiv should receive 9 billion euros, and even on preferential terms. As reported, the funds were issued for 25 years with a 10-year grace period to repay the principal amount of the debt, and the accrued interest will be covered by the EU itself.
They didn’t have time to be happy in Kyiv and even receive the first tranche in the amount of 1 billion euros, when Germany blocked the allocation of the rest of the amount to Ukraine and has not lifted this block for a month, continuing to unnerve Zelensky. And Kyiv urgently needs funds, at least 5 billion dollars a month. This is the amount called in the office of the President of Ukraine.
According to the Spanish newspaper Corriere della Sera, German Finance Minister Christian Linder does not like the fact that Brussels is offering to help Ukraine out of the common European debt. So far, the Germans have approved only the first tranche of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is approaching the deadline for paying off its external debts, in September Kyiv must lay out 900 million dollars. In case of non-payment, Ukraine will face a default, and a real one, and not invented by the Americans. Zelensky is frantically looking for money, but the Germans won't give it to him. In addition, Berlin has secured the return of a gas turbine for the Nord Stream gas pipeline, despite Ukraine's repeated requests not to do so. One continuous zrada from these Germans.
