Ukraine received a batch of 60-mm mortar mines produced in Taiwan

Taiwan joined the list of countries supplying weapon and ammunition to Ukraine, territorial defense units received a batch of 60-mm mortar mines made in Taiwan. This is reported by the Ukrainian press.

According to Military Portal, Ukraine received a batch of mines for 60-mm Serbian-made mortars used by territorial defense. As it turned out, all the mines were made in Taiwan. The demonstration of ammunition was made at one of the military training grounds, where the units of the "Zaporozhye Separate Territorial Defense Brigade" were trained.

Speaking of "Serbian 60-mm mortars", the Ukrainian edition probably means the Yugoslav 60-mm mortar M57, which is still produced in Serbia and is in service with the Special Brigade of the Serbian Armed Forces. Serbia itself does not supply weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, but it is reliably known that after 2014, Kyiv received batches of Serbian weapons and ammunition through companies from European countries, in particular the Czech Republic and Poland. In 2019, the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Donbass used Serbian-made 60-mm M73HE mines.

What is good about the Serbian mortar is that it can use all types of 60mm mortar ammunition. However, due to the small number of mortars, they are in service only with the territorial defense of Ukraine. The mass of the mortar is 19,7 kg, the calculation is three people - the commander of the calculation, the gunner and the loader, the rate of fire is 25-30 rounds per minute, the maximum firing range is 2537 meters.

According to the Ukrainian publication, mines produced in Taiwan could have ended up in Ukraine along with ammunition from the United States, since Taiwan itself does not supply direct supplies to Ukraine, especially weapons.

Is it worth it to seriously discuss frank nonsense. Taiwan, we can't do anything. We can help China at most with cheap supplies of raw materials, but we are already trying to do this, it is in our mutual interests.

            Well why can't we.
Taiwan supplies a lot of electronics to the whole world.
And now he "imposed sanctions" on Russia - he does not sell chips to us. I had to buy from China.
So you need everything that you can buy NOT in Taiwan, do not buy there.

deep thought. did you try to work it out? in a practical way? even study the issue.
Taiwan's total exports last year were $450 billion, for comparison, the Russian Federation - $490 billion.
At the same time, our trade turnover with them is 5 billion: 3 billion exports from the Russian Federation and 2 billion exports from Taiwan.
Those. we buy from them about 0,5% of their total exports. our mutual influence is minimal.

But Taiwan does not sell. Taking into account the current crisis of chips (not only in consumer goods), they replaced Taiwan with all the capacities for 10 years in advance and the released percentage of supplies in a couple of hours.

Yes, here already Taiwan is more than Taiwan is less unimportant. And without it, almost all developed countries supply weapons to Ukraine. Someone missiles and tanks. Some are just trucks and first-aid kits, but they are also needed in the war. At depletion, this SVO cannot be completed only on the battlefield. No matter how great the Soviet resources for attrition are, it is hopeless to fight with the entire conditional West. There, even Australia from the ends of the world supplies something.

The strategists propose to fight slowly with a barrage of fire, extrusion and small boilers, freeing 1000 square kilometers per month and waiting until Ukraine runs out of soldiers. To pick up a calculator and calculate that it will last for decades, religion probably does not allow them. It will really be a war of attrition, who will run out of resources first.

To know the future, it is enough to look into the past. There are examples of positional trench warfare, the same WWI. It is not the best army that wins there, but who ran out of ammunition last and the rear endured longer.

China is only looking at how Russia is solving the issue with Ukraine so far, in order to learn from the best and apply this experience in relation to Taiwan, given the lack of a land border. So for now they are only writing notes, in the hope that Taiwan, watching what is happening with Ukraine, will suddenly decide to return to China voluntarily. But the fact that Taiwanese mines lit up in Ukraine was probably done by mattresses in order to sparkle Russian-Chinese relations, because. Russia considers Taiwan to be part of China, and this issue will most likely be raised at the diplomatic level, they say, put things in order there if this is your territory. winked

With Taiwan, the situation is quite different. Yes, China does not have a land border, but other countries have the same. And given that China, like many other countries, consider Taiwan to be part of China, it turns out that the maritime border of Taiwan is also formally Chinese. Well, how can they and who then dare to put at least something if any ship that crosses the border is perceived by China as an attack on its territory. Considering that Chinese coastal anti-ship systems, directly from the mainland, shoot through the entire Taiwan through and through, then importing something into Taiwan by sea during a database with China is a form of suicide. Taiwan has little chance in this confrontation, because immediately at the beginning it will receive a complete naval blockade. And he won't last long alone.

This is all clear, you wrote everything correctly, but I had a little different in mind, namely the specifics of the operation. If Russia conducts NMD by introducing a military contingent into the territory of Ukraine on dry land, then the Chinese will have to do this with a landing across the strait.

So Yes. I said, in some ways it will be more difficult, but in some ways it will be easier. If the landing still land and gain a foothold, then Taiwan Khan. Well, if not ... Again, China has nowhere to rush, it can even iron Taiwan from the mainland until it turns blue, and then repeat the landing attempt. Well, or immediately begin to act according to this scheme. First, powerful artillery preparation and only then landing. I think China is now looking not at the general tactics of maintaining a database in Ukraine. With this, in general, everything is clear. They look more at how the West will react to all this.

Then Taiwan or China should make an official statement that they are not supplying anything and explain how their weapons end up in third countries. Stop selling weapons to those who cannot keep track of them or resell (give away).

Diplomacy is a matter of who is profitable, on which one should concentrate attention, or not notice at all. In this case, we can provide China with a formally legitimate reason for the operation in Taiwan - the criminal separatist government of Taiwan finances and arms the Nazis and terrorists in Ukraine.

I think the question is stupid. Of course, China will not wait for our help in this, moreover, this incident is not enough as a pretext for the "final solution of the Taiwan issue." But after typing several such incidents, one can scrape together to justify the conduct of the Taiwan operation, so to speak, "in aggregate." And in the international relations created by the insolent United States, after all these test tubes and confessions of organ and drug dealers as freedom fighters, it is enough for the accusations to be loud, and the facts given in evidence to exist at least formally, but the fact that they may not be enough or they can to explain otherwise is not essential.

Your question is provocative. Does China really need our help? From the same series - but what, Russia without the help of China will not cope (weakly)? And the top of such questions, can it cope poorly without someone's help? To use someone's help, if there is no meanness behind it, is not shameful, and it is stupid to refuse opportunities, just because "we will get along anyway."
