Romanian parliamentarian knows all about human rights in Russia
The fact is that Mr. Frunda, who arrived at the PACE session from the most democratic country in Europe - Romania - criticized all the policies that are being sent by the Russian authorities. Frunda, in his own words, is concerned about the situation with the fact that there are political prisoners in Russia. For example, Mr. Khodorkovsky, he called, quote, "a typical political prisoner." The Romanian politician referred to the same “glorious cohort” of Russian dissidents the representatives of the punk band Pussy Riot, who received a court decision for 2 years for their “extraordinary concert” in the Temple. Mr. Frunda is concerned about the deaths of Sergei Magnitsky, Natalia Estemirova and Anna Politkovskaya. The zealous Giorgi Frunda got into courage so much that he was already simply unstoppable. He managed to criticize Russia in terms of the adoption of a law on NGOs in our country, for refusing to register such an undoubtedly strong and progressive political party as PARNAS. In addition, and this is especially touching, Mr. Frunda is extremely annoyed by the fact that in Russia there is only a moratorium on the death penalty, but the death penalty itself has not yet been abolished. It is surprising that the words about the death penalty are spoken by a citizen of a country that itself, not so long ago, could afford to send a person to the other world following a quickly concocted sentence (we are talking about the execution in 1989 of Nicolae Ceausescu and his wife). This, by the way, despite the fact that even today about half of Romanian citizens consider that December execution illegal, and Ceausescu is a person who can be called an exemplary politician. At the same time, those who have such a point of view in Romania tend to be accused of retrograde and flirting with the totalitarian past. However, let's leave the interpretation of Ceausescu's personality to the Romanian citizens themselves, but at the same time let's ask Mr. Giorgi Frund a question: if in Romania itself, far from everything is going smoothly with respect for human rights and free expression of one's point of view on the same death penalty for Ceausescu, then what right does Mr. Frund to interpret the situation in the Russian Federation, the state of affairs in which he can learn only from the broadcasts of Euronews or CNN. Obviously, no...
No, of course, we all knew perfectly well that if the PACE decided to start criticizing Russia, then this criticism cannot be avoided. We even knew that many parliamentarians simply do not feed them with bread, let them discuss on the subject of human rights in the Russian Federation. They guessed that a special “love” for Russia is a kind of credo of many PACE parliamentarians, and even their daily bread, which helps them to express themselves perfectly on the European political platforms, it is convenient to gain a foothold in the Euroscene and get their political dividends. But it would be okay, even though they criticized Russia and at the same time they did not forget to criticize their country for numerous punctures, so no — Frunda together with his Romanian parliament is white and fluffy, but Russia is a real European pain on the body of a big Europe ...
Well, on the other hand, on the other hand, what else can an average Romanian politician, who has been in full view of all Europeans, do? If you do not criticize Russia, you will not receive a portion of applause, but there is no applause from Europe, you can forget about conquering European political peaks and forever languishing in your dismal Bucharest ...
By the way, it would be nice for the Russian side to pay attention to the country that Mr. Frunda himself represents in PACE. Well, in fact, where it suits: not Romania is a member of the European Union and a stronghold of democratic values on its eastern borders, but some country of constant political revenge. Ceausescu did not fit - at the expense, now the situation is heating up with respect to the current President Traian Basescu. The current leader has ceased to enjoy the support of citizens, and therefore it was decided to conduct it through the impeachment procedure. This impeachment, in fact, failed, since the turnout for the procedure of will not reached 50% of the number of registered voters. However, opponents of the current leader, this situation, apparently, does not bother. Already, information is coming in from Bucharest that a second (“control”) impeachment can be conducted for Basescu, so surely ... Well, they like to carry out “cleansing” of their political leaders in Romania - story showed ... The fact that a nervous situation arises in a state to say the least, Brussels announced Bucharest, and Washington has already managed to urge the main ideologists of the new impeachment to calm down. But can this really stop the dispersed Romanian “democrats”, who are first ready to carry presidents on their hands, and then look for a way to push them away even before the end of their term of office.
It turns out that in the internal policy of their country, first they would understand the Romanian parliamentarians, and only then write sizzling reports on the situation in other countries. But it would be better for Giorgi Frund to talk about Pussy Riot, Magnitsky and Khodorkovsky, whom he probably did not see before his eyes than conduct rational parliamentary activity in his country.
The issue of the expediency of Russia's presence in such an organization as PACE, and the expediency of the existence of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has already been raised at the Military Review. It is obvious that all these reports, resolutions, resolutions, monologues are a banal shaking of air, which separates deputies from legislative activity in their countries. Today the work of the PACE itself looks like a set of ordinary fights between delegations, which in itself does not carry anything constructive for any of the countries. The bureaucratization of the organization is obvious, and if we have enough of our bureaucratization, then we also need its European additions. Of course, it is possible to listen to an extra portion of criticism, but only this already gives away with some kind of masochism: well, we also pay money for criticizing ourselves ...
