Gun "Black Swift", or Strike One

This year from the new domestic weapons Special attention is drawn to the gun "Black Swift", also known as "Strike One". The weapon is really quite interesting, both in terms of the fact that it is just a new gun, and in terms of the method of locking the barrel. Of course, one can argue long and hard about whether a given sample of weapons can be considered domestic, but why do we need all this demagogy, it’s important that there are weapons, which means you need to figure out what kind of bird is the “Black Swift” and what is better use.

Gun “Black Swift” or for the foreign market Strike One is the brainchild of Arsenal Firearms, which calls into question that it is a domestic weapon. Still, the concept of "domestic" implies not only that the idea was born in the head of our compatriot, but also that the weapon should be produced by a domestic manufacturer, and not "foreign." However, many questioned that the domestic arms industry could master the production of this gun in high quality. I think I could. You can even do the impossible, with the help of a long lever, and the words of an abusive one, and if you are also interested in quality production for everyone - from the factory director to the cleaner, not only financially if you meet all the requirements, but also in the form of depreciation, and even dismissal in case of deviation from the norm, the quality will increase to the heavens. Immediately remember about the covered new machines, there will be a lot of people willing to learn how to work on them, but this is a separate topic for conversation, and it is quite extensive and multifaceted, so about this some other time, and now we will return to the “Black Cut” pistol.

As soon as the pistol appeared in the form of the first sample, everyone immediately rushed to discuss its uniqueness, emphasizing that the weapon is fundamentally different in the barrel locking system from all other pistols that were previously. Perhaps it’s worth starting with this question, since for many the system of automatic weapons operation is a dark forest, to which there is no desire to even understand, and after all the general principle in almost all automation systems is very simple, you just need to sort everything out. So, what can I say about the uniqueness of the principle of operation of this weapon ... There is nothing supernova in it. In fact, the barrel locking system is a modified Browning system, but it is also impossible to say that the Swift barrel locking system is torn off from some model. Unique - no, modernized - yes. Moreover, the modernization has clearly gone in favor. If you look at it from the technical side, I would call beats-like (92) pistols closest to such a system, since both here and there the locking element moves vertically, and locking occurs due to the fact that the so-called liner fits into the vertical grooves of the housing-gate . But we’ll talk about it a little lower, until we figure out what advantages the gun has over competitors, and they, despite the statements of the manufacturer, are there and they will only grow larger over time.

First of all, it should be noted that the manufacturer managed to lower the barrel in the pistol, which made shooting from it much more comfortable. But this is not a novelty of weapons, and before the "Swift" there were models of a pistol with a reduced barrel, this is even to some extent the norm for all new models. Usually, a barrel reduction in this model of weapon is associated with the same barrel bore locking system, but we all know that this was quite successfully implemented in other models. Quite often in the descriptions of this gun slips the information that the trigger is equipped with a safety device to protect it from being accidentally pressed. However, when looking at photographs of this weapon, nothing of the kind can be found, the trigger looks quite ordinary and does not stand out with anything remarkable. But the information that there is protection against accidental pressing is not taken from the ceiling, everything is simply assembled inside the trigger, and only a small pin that is visible on both sides of the trigger element gives the device. Actually, the weapon does not have any other external devices for protection against accidental firing Well, the last feature noted in the reviews of this gun is the design of the store and the method of its extraction. The fact is that the store holds the leaf spring, which has two folds in the shape of the teeth that are included in the slots of the store itself. The double key of the magazine extraction is nothing more than a cylinder, in the center of which there is a smooth narrowing. The spring holding the magazine rests on the center of this cylinder, respectively, when the cylinder is shifted to the right or left, the spring is pressed and the shop freely comes out of the shaft. Well, the store itself has narrowings that facilitate its insertion into the mine, which is hardly an innovation, since this has already been used before.

The appearance of the pistol is quite interesting and not quite yet familiar to the consumer, the Caracal pistol that is closest in appearance to the “Black Swift”, although many people speak about the similarity with the General Staff, which I cannot agree with. Both the front and rear side surfaces of the cover-shutter have a wide, straight notch that allows the cover-slide to be pulled back at any grip that is convenient for the shooter to be equally reliable. In addition to the trigger, magazine eject buttons, and slide shutter keys, the gun has another element that is necessary for disassembling the weapon. This is a pin that passes through the frame of the pistol and shaped notch in the locking insert. When removing it, you can quickly disassemble the weapon for maintenance, and then assemble it, fixing it with the same single pin, which is also not anything out of the ordinary in a firearm. The presence of the cartridge in the chamber can be controlled by the position of the ejector at the window for ejection of spent cartridges. Sights are open, consist of a pillar and front sight, marked with light accumulating points to facilitate aiming in conditions of insufficient visibility. Under the barrel of the weapon there is a seat for attaching additional devices, for example, a small-sized flashlight or laser designator. The pistol grip, though made according to all ergonomic standards, does not have the ability to adjust to the size of the palm of the arrow. The pistol casing is naturally steel, but the weapon frame can be made from either a light aluminum alloy or a shock-resistant polymer.

Finally, we got to the most interesting moment in any weapon - the principle of its work. The basis for the automation of weapons, as already mentioned above, was the scheme proposed more than a hundred years ago by one of the greatest gunsmiths Browning, but it has undergone a rather deep modification. So the main positive point of the updated system was that the barrel of the weapon moves only along its axis, being directed by several “rails” to prevent its turning or shifting. This made it possible to significantly improve the accuracy of the weapon, and most importantly, to increase its rate of fire, although this is a rather controversial parameter for a gun. I will try to briefly describe the system of automatic weapons, omitting the general details. When the trigger is pressed, a shot is fired, powder gases tend to push the bullet out of the barrel of the weapon, and a rather large pressure is created in the barrel itself, which, in addition to pressing on the bullet, pressing with the same force on the bottom of the sleeve, tends to throw it out of the cartridge chamber towards the arrow. But the liner is supported by the shutter, which does not allow it to simply fly out of the chamber. In the case of the “Black Swift” pistol, the bolt is also not in free movement but rigidly connected to the barrel using a U-shaped liner. This liner, with its branching, covers the barrel of the weapon between the chamber and the tide on the surface of the barrel, and at its base has a figured cut through which a fixed pin passes, fastened in the frame of the pistol. Thus, when fired, the sleeve transmits the impulse to the casing-bolt, which in turn, through the liner, pulls back the barrel of the weapon. And nothing would work if it were not for this liner that is movable in a vertical plane. Due to the fact that in its lower part there is a figured cutout, when the barrel moves backwards, this liner is lowered, while the protrusions on its side surfaces come out of the clutch with the casing-gate, which allows it to “unhook” from the trunk after some distance continue to move independently, in proud loneliness. In this case, two protrusions on each side of the liner become something similar to the guides for the casing-bolt, but naturally they are not, such interaction between the parts even after disengagement is necessary to ensure normal operation when the casing-bolt and the gun barrel engage. So some time after the joint movement of the barrel and the casing-bolt, they are separated, the barrel stops, and the casing-bolt continues to move back, removing the cartridge case and throwing it out. During its reverse course, the cover-bolt pulls a new cartridge out of the store, inserts it into the chamber and rests against the breech, starting to push it forward. When moving all this happiness already in the opposite direction, the interaction of the figure cutout in the locking insert and the pin that passes through the frame of the weapon again occurs, this causes the locking insert to rise and again securely lock the barrel of the gun.

I think that those who delved into the schemes of the work of other pistols with automatics, built according to the scheme with a short stroke of the barrel, caught a clear presence in the “Black Swift” system of the spirit of Browning. Of course, I don’t blame anyone for plagiarism or anything else, the system is really new and has not been used in this form before. But is it worth calling a “revolutionary” construction in which only one element is actually changed? Even taking into account the fact that this led to an increase in the reliability of the weapon, it increased its survivability and had a positive effect on the fighting qualities of the pistol, I personally think for myself that this is nothing but a continuation of the development of the Browning idea and there is nothing to claim for “revolutionism”. But this is my opinion, so it may differ from the opinions of other people. The original Browning barrel locking system was revolutionary, the Barnitke locking principle was revolutionary, although it was not widely known and popular, many people actually proposed original schemes that were completely different from well-known ones, but Black Cut is not the case. Still, I see the difference between the “revolutionary” and the new, and because it really is and it is significant.

On the other hand, it can be seen that the development is really promising, and despite the loud advertising words to attract the attention of the masses, the pistol is really beyond praise in its characteristics, however, the really mass production of weapons has not yet begun, and as you know, the difference between the bench model and the final result can be very tangible. At the moment, the pistol is planned to be offered for 9x19 ammunition, including for domestic armor-piercing versions of this cartridge, 9x21 IMI, my favorite .357SIG and .40S & W. They say that this pistol should replace the PM in service with the Ministry of Internal Affairs, although they are silent about how much such a replacement will cost, but it is clear that it will not be cheap at all. In general, it is still too early to draw conclusions in order to give the weapon a full-fledged characterization, while the impression of the pistol is only positive, but the final verdict will not be made by experts, but by those who will have to handle this weapon every day and trust it with their lives.

Well, I don’t know ... I’m probably still a fan of GS-18. And according to the automation scheme, and in appearance, and in the armor-piercing cartridge, and in terms of weight ... Although, I haven’t objectively understood for more than 10 years that it has pros and cons, opinions are too polar for him occasion, and have not accepted into service, and they do, they say, fig quality, alas ...
A typewriter from the article ... Yes, hundreds of them, for every taste, I'm not impressed with the design, there are more interesting ones, but this scheme, IMHO, with all these tightly fitted guides, unlike Browning's "earrings", will be sensitive to dirt and nagar, it's obvious.

Well, what can I say. If the serial samples will be of the same quality as the demonstration ones, then this is exactly the machine that is needed and which has long been expected. Hands and itch to take advantage of this miracle.

The advantages of any weapon can only be discussed after shooting enough of it. Unfortunately, I did not shoot from GSh-18 or "swift", so there is nothing to say.

Respect to the author. But I would like to read the description of the trigger (it looks like a shock type?) And the scheme of operation of the safety mechanism.
And one more question. The ability to install a collimator sight is not visible. This is true?

USM is shock, the mainspring is not fully cocked during the casing-shutter, additional reconnection occurs when the trigger is pulled. I’ll try the description of the safety mechanism, but I don’t promise that it will be clear)
In fact, the trigger is double, it can be divided into an external one, which is visible as a simple trigger, and an internal one, which is placed inside the external one. The outer one in its normal position blocks the inner trigger, because of which it cannot move. If you look closely at the trigger, you will notice a small pin that passes through it, this is the axis of the outer part of the trigger, so if you press on its edge so that it turns slightly around this pin, then it unlocks the trigger completely and he will go back without any obstacles. Well, in general, somehow this is how everything is confused. In fact, the same system with a forked trigger, only assembled inside the trigger.
I can’t say anything about the installation of a collimator sight, the fastest rack will be mounted on a seat under the barrel and displayed above the weapon. Well, I think so.

Why all sorts of bells and whistles on the pistol? Well, let's install a grenade launcher, a colimator, a flashlight, a bottle opener, a couple of toothpicks, pliers, scissors and a CD player on it. Still, the mass pistol is the so-called. "weapon of last resort" in contrast to the special. assault pistols of superunits. Reliability, precision and convenience. All!

And why on the gun all sorts of trouble?
If the matter is brought to the point of absurdity, then you, no doubt, will be right. One of the old "tricks" is the use of a wooden Mauser K-96 holster as a stock. There is nothing wrong with a laser designator or low magnification optics, if there is a need for specific use. In principle, the idea of multifunctionality has found its own appearance in knives, and is in demand for certain tasks.

So after all, no one obliges to install a particular device on a weapon. It is necessary - install, not necessary - do not install, the main thing is that there should be the possibility of such an installation, and at the same time that it does not interfere with the use of weapons. But in general:

It's just that when creating a pistol, the authors are trying to drive all the best into it. Reliability? OK! Big store? Yes, a simpleton! Shot range? No problems. Accuracy? Oh ... Manufacturability? Oh-oh-oh ... So they create something averaged. Only here the average sample will never be the Best. And the idea of attaching a snag to a pistol (in my opinion) has long been "giggled". (since the days of Dr. Vebley with his bayonet) Good modularity idea: transforming a pistol into something faster, more powerful, or vice versa, miniaturizing. (change of barrels, magazine, etc.) but you shouldn't turn a melee weapon into a sniper rifle.

But for troops - a gun is needed in the prince - but! for all - this means - and for the soldier. what about if the equipment is not intended? again, saving on l / s - and in the charters on BG there is nothing that will affect the use of pistols by ordinary soldiers. What to do - violate the charter? or accustom kinder to surprises. because there is not only akm but a gun. I remember - I had to remove a platoon weapon from dh. And there ax and pm 10 years ago - so pm in a bucket with aviation kerosene had to be soaked, and as a soldier with 4 pm in his pockets he walked on the part. but- pistols then worked at 5. for pm.

For the "zoldat" we were told that, for example, the RPG-7 grenade launchers were supposed to have a PM for self-defense in wartime. If without black humor, that only shoot yourself, then PM is a simple, cheap and reliable pistol. It is unlikely that ordinary soldiers will be given Glock (yes, and officers, perhaps in special forces). It seems that the division into a relatively cheap and massive army pistol and a pistol for specialists will remain, the whole question is which pistol will become a massive army pistol.

The Russian Armed Forces will gradually replace the Makarov pistol, the personal weapon of an army officer, with a new Yarygin pistol. Colonel Andrei Bobrun, head of the press service of the Western Military District, said this, as reported by Interfax. According to him, the adoption of the Yarygin pistol into service took place in 2003, but its massive entry into the troops began only in 2011.

Read an interview with Yarygin: a man who has been practicing rifle for a long time asked questions.

Warranty at the barrel - 4000. At Glock - for 100000, if memory does not change.

A detailed description from a direct user - a person deals with him on an ongoing basis.

And such claims - the wagon. I highly recommend getting acquainted with at least these two instances.

On the shot. That is the gun as a whole. Read carefully.
The survivability of the trunk is approximately the same for all. On PM, barrel survivability is
100 is a proven figure. By the way, the "carriage" of claims was expressed 000 years ago. It's not about the claims, who don't have them on the new weapon. The point is how they work. I remember at the lectures we were told how the PM was brought up. Legend.

Yeah. And at Glock. On average, modern pistols from 30000 shots have a warranty shot.

About PM - a little more in detail. About Xnumx Shots

It was a paper report on IL-71 years 10 ago, so I can’t provide a link. There in the end the frame cracked seems.

Warranty resource PM - 4000 shots. With constant replacement of the return spring - up to 40000. However - I repeat - when replacing parts.

Who argues. But with one remark. This resource is approved by the customer based on the price of the finished product. And by no means the whim or backwardness of the designer or production. Read carefully the interview with Yarygin.

I read - the pistol "floats" after 8000. Glock at retail abroad costs a little more, and lasts several times longer. That's all. Usually, the customer is simply excused.
As with the Tiger, it was, for example, which, in fact, was ordered not by the Defense Ministry, but by the Arabs.

I repeat, but do not excuse myself - TTX, TTT and the formulation of the development task until recently were issued by the MO, the customer. (I was lucky to work as a representative.) Including reliability requirements based on the minimum price of the product. The developers of the Tiger were outraged when they were accused of low mine protection compared to Lynx - no one set a task to strengthen it. So the MO ordered 4000, and the product really gives out 8000 (the normal safety factor among other things in mechanical engineering) is not surprising.

Even less surprising, the price of Glock is comparable to PY. Compare their circulation, take the ABC book on economics and stop being surprised.

In general, the appearance of PY is a dignity and pride for the people who do it all.

Pride must be for good weapons. And not for the raw pistol of Yarygin, just because he is OUR.

The tiger was not originally ordered by the Ministry of Defense - its development was ordered by the Arabs, and only then it was pushed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Defense.

Reviews on the assembly and operation of the Tiger.
They also long and hard talk about the advantages of the Tiger over Iveco. But several models interfere with this together, and the 6A Tiger has still not passed the test.

I am surprised how they love to praise here just because something is "ours."

It was possible to fit this news in full in one paragraph, but the author’s soap and opera capabilities stretched it out too much, so many unnecessary words, just a kapets. According to the comments, I agree with Pupyrchaty, our gunsmiths sometimes want to put every G into the army, fortunately not everything rolls.

Your desire to add negativity to everything related to weapons is understandable. But the shit * with which you are trying to certainly cover up any topic related to domestic weapons, perfectly sticks to the inexperienced and gullible amateurish minds of our young and amateur, and then spreads in conversations. The result and goals of this are known - a decrease in Russia's intellectual potential. But you work very rough. You have a lot of punctures that testify to your complete lack of professionalism.

And now on the topic. If someone thinks that a designer is developing a weapon by picking his nose with his finger, then this is "a misunderstanding." You have no idea what production is. In conditions of complete collapse, organizing the development and production of a new type of weapon is a feat! The guys from Beretta (with whom they tried to organize a joint venture) fled from Izhevsk in complete ah * e when they saw what was going on with us! Do you seriously think that the designers do not know about the shortcomings about which the amateurish sabbath is joking? They know and no worse than yours. Only when the collector Vasya at the end of the work shift goes honestly to drink his beer, and the Pimples poke their klava honestly from ..., the designer breaks his head how ...
Before infarction, before a stroke ... MIC is collapsed. There are no funds for normal tests. Most of the mace's failures could be detected during bench tests, but the equipment was destroyed. Military acceptance rolled out in a pancake. And you want sweets to enter the troops? The fact that G enters the army is to blame for Yeltsin and Putin. The remains of the military-industrial complex work on worn-out equipment, in the absence of financing, with amateurish or thieves management. Someone calls it sheer enthusiasm. I say patriotism.

Dear bunta. When pouring money into today's military-industrial complex, it is difficult to talk about the lack of funding. When purchasing models (of the same Tiger) and at the same time fig assembly - it’s difficult to talk about patriotism. On the same Izhmash, according to Kozyuk in an interview, for two years there were new machines, on which everyone put big and thick - and the machines were supposed to increase productivity. And this, excuse me, is the usual nonsense of not only workers, but everyone.
