The US Navy attended to a series of major accidents in the fleet
The command of the US Navy became concerned about the problems arising on navy - numerous accidents, which, in particular, lead to the loss of ships, aircraft and their crews. In this regard, the Naval Security Center in Norfolk, Virginia, was created to help prevent the loss of expensive equipment.
According to Admiral Michael Gilday, quoted in Military.com, the navy is in a situation in which there is a serious gap between the successful crews of ships and aircraft and the teams lagging behind, who, trying to demonstrate a higher level of their competence, "make big mistakes , be it an accident, a fire or a fuel spill."

As noted, in July 2020, a fire made the UDC USS Bon Homme Richard unusable for service, which had to be written off. Fuel spills happen all the time, such as at Pearl Harbor, when over a thousand families had to leave their homes as a result of contaminated drinking water.
According to the author, more and more often the fleet is faced with cases of death of command personnel during exercises, accidents constantly occur on ships deployed in battle formations, for example, on the USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier.
- explained in the publication.
Admiral Gilthey hopes that after the creation of a new headquarters for combating accident risks, the situation in the fleet will change in a positive direction. The commander of this center will report directly to the Chief of Naval Operations, US Navy. As can be understood from the admiral's statements, representatives of the new headquarters should be on board all pennants of the American fleet that are in operational deployment.
