Seventieth Regiment "Normandy-Niemen"

12
Our blog has already reported that on June 25, 2012, at the French airbase Mont de Marsan (BA118 Colonel Constantin Rozanoff airbase), the ceremony of the official introduction of the revived fighter aviation regiment Régiment de chasse RC 2/30 Normandie-Niemen (" Normandy-Niemen ") with the presentation of the battle banner to its personnel historical parts. This unit is actually a squadron, but with the aim of preserving its preeminence since June 2008, it bears the status of a “fighter regiment” unique to the modern French Air Force.

14 September 2012 was held on Mont-de-Marsan to celebrate the 70 anniversary of the Normandie-Niemen regiment. The unit was created as part of the USSR Air Force 1 September 1942 of the year and made combat sorties during the Second World War on the Soviet-German front 5240, scoring 273 official air victories.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the regiment, one of the Dassault Rafale fighters of the F3 series, now in service with the Normandie-Niemen RC 2 / 30 (Rafale C aircraft with a tail number 118-IX), received a spectacular "anniversary" coloring with a big red star.

Well done French! Preserving the historical memory of the heroes of grandfathers, a good example for our Defense Ministry how to educate the current generation of soldiers.

      Well done French!

Well done is not the word, but especially Normandy Neman!

And how they distinguished themselves in the bombing of defenseless Vietnam until 1951 - the regiment was awarded a palm branch on the Military Cross for Foreign Operations and the honorary banner of the French Republic. In 1951, the regiment was transferred to Algeria to fight the rebellious Arabs, took part in the fighting in Rwanda , Chad, Bosnia.

during the period from March 24 to June 10, 1999 the regiment bombed Yugoslavia, before that Iraq, then - Afghanistan flew from Tajikistan

don't learn anything! they fought with us against fascism, they themselves became the same as Apot. And just do it, we got stars to put stars when you take off the plane, and they? rockets to draw after each click on the trigger? Hmm, I don’t have enough butt on the rifle to scratch the sticks from each shot (((

I completely agree!!! worthy of respect !!! a worthy example of the modern fascist Baltic, by the way, a member of the European Union and NATO. Yes, and the old fagots from Ukraine, wandering the streets of Lviv in search of fame for their abomination during the Second World War. they should have a closer look and repent of their deeds, because Those, whose backs they shot, gave life to their descendants!

July 15, when flying to a new airfield, there was a breakdown in the plane of Maurice de Sejn. Vapors of gasoline began to penetrate the cockpit, and the pilot went blind. In the cargo compartment of the aircraft was mechanic de Seina Vladimir Belozub, who did not have a parachute, so the pilot refused to parachute, returned to the old airfield and tried to land the plane. In front of everyone who was at the airfield, he went on land several times, despite the desperate order by General Khudyakov to hop on the radio by Mikhail Shik. The French aristocrat crashed because of a Russian mechanic in his trunk.
Maurice de Sein and Vladimir Belozub were buried in the same grave in the village of Dubrovka. In 1953, the remains of Maurice de Seyne, at the request of his mother, were reburied in Paris.

I can’t remember where else except the Normandy-Neman the French could distinguish themselves? At the landing at the opening of the second front, they distinguished themselves by drunkenness and disorganization.

It is gratifying that at least someone else remembers the story and pays tribute to the Russians.
    Long live France!

On November 25, 1942, a Soviet-French agreement was signed on the formation of a French aviation squadron on the territory of the USSR. The squadron was formed on December 4, 1942 in the city of Ivanovo. At the request of the personnel, the military unit was given the name "Normandy." The personnel of the squadron consisted of 72 French volunteers (14 pilots and 58 aircraft mechanics) and 17 Soviet aircraft mechanics. The squadron was equipped with fighter Yak-1, later Yak-3. For military merit and courage during air battles during the battles to liberate Lithuania and during the crossing of the Neman River, the regiment was awarded the honorary title "Neman", so the connection became known as the "Normandy-Neman". During the hostilities on the Soviet-German front of World War II, the regiment pilots made 5240 sorties, conducted about 900 air battles, won 273 confirmed victories, 36 unconfirmed, and damaged more than 80 German aircraft. Losses during the war amounted to 42 pilots. For the accomplished feats, the Soviet government awarded the regiment with the Orders of the Red Banner and Alexander Nevsky, medals, and the French - the Legion of Honor, the Cross of the War with six palm trees, the Cross of Liberation and the Military Medal. 83 Soviet pilots were awarded many Soviet orders and medals, and four of them became Heroes of the Soviet Union. It’s good that even though the French still remember, honor ... The Americans would have misrepresented the facts, the USSR would also have become due ...

    A very good article.
It's nice that the French remember, it's nice to see the Red Stars on Rafale ...
    This is Respect and tribute.
This is the continuity and connection of generations. This is what we need to tell and show in schools to adolescents in both countries.

Glory to the heroes who defeated fascism together. This must be remembered.

I completely agree, because lately, some countries began to believe that they alone won the war. I liked the color, the stars above the tricolor look especially effective.
