Gazprom has once again refused Ukraine's proposal to increase gas pumping
There will be no growth in gas pumping through Ukraine in January 2022, Russian Gazprom once again ignored the auction and did not book additional capacities for the first month of next year.
As follows from the data of the Hungarian trading platform RBP, "Operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system" on Monday, December 20, put up for auction its traditional offer for pumping gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system up to 9,8 million cubic meters. m per day through the station "Sudzha" and up to 5,2 million cubic meters of gas per day through the station "Sokhranovka", but the Russian company traditionally ignored this offer.
Thus, Gazprom is still booking only the capacities it needs under a long-term contract with Ukraine for pumping 40 billion cubic meters of gas per year, i.e. approximately 109,5 million cubic meters per day.
But on the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline running through Poland, Gazprom has booked 21,6% of the proposed capacity. Warsaw offered an additional volume of 89,1 million cubic meters of gas per day, but the Russian company has booked only 19,28 million cubic meters of blue fuel.
It should be noted that Gazprom has been ignoring all Kiev's proposals for booking additional capacities for four months now, continuing to buy out only the volumes necessary to fulfill the contract. In November, Gazprom refused to book additional capacity for pumping gas through Ukraine and Poland for the first three quarters of 2022.
Meanwhile, gas prices in Europe in the morning reached $ 1740 per thousand cubic meters, but towards lunchtime they stabilized at around $ 1700. Experts do not exclude that Europe may face another jump in gas prices if German politicians continue to delay the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
