VSSK "Exhaust": Not a single body armor will protect

18

Can a large bore sniper rifle be virtually silent? Why not, if specialists worked on it, who took into account the options for sound absorption when the bullet exits the barrel.

One of the quietest large-caliber sniper rifles is the VSSK "Exhaust", which has been developed over a fairly long period of time - since 2002. The development was, of course, not in order to create it for mass use in the troops. The name speaks for itself: special sniper. It was created for special units, including the FSB special forces. Actually, the FSB special purpose center was the customer of this kind of development.

VSSK "Exhaust" has an impressive weight - about 6,5 kg. Moreover, this is without a sound absorption system when fired (silencer). Developed for a cartridge of 12,7x55 mm caliber (STs-130), which was originally created "with an eye" for low-noise and flameless shooting. The energy of the shortened bullet is enough for a subsonic shot, which, accordingly, also has to do with reducing the noise when firing.

An overview of the Exhaust large-caliber sniper rifle is presented on the Lazarev Tactical YouTube channel. It tells, among other things, about the ability to use a special armor-piercing ammunition when firing from this rifle, which from a distance of 200 m can penetrate 20 mm of steel or armor of the 5th class. Not a single body armor will protect against a VSSK "Exhaust" shot, at least from a distance that is defined as "lethal".

Also, the Israeli system of shooting "around the corner" for any weapon.

A tiny armored computer inside the weapon will help the fighter, like Weyze's applique, navigate along the way to the target, taking into account obstacles and dangers. The system's camera is also equipped with night vision, which is quite useful in tunnels, for example. The camera lens is adjusted so that the fighter can see the battlefield from the corner of the building, from the side, without being exposed to danger and without risking fire, so soldiers can shoot at the terrorist without being face to face. "
The systems communicate via wireless or Wi-Fi, thus transmitting data to create a battle scene for all forces.
The system can accurately determine the source of fire, mark sparks from enemy fire, and also independently record combat documentation for reconstruction.

Muzzle energy is comparable to AKM. I strongly doubt that at 200 meters the bullet will pierce the plate of the 5th class armor.

          1) Not comparable. More by almost 70%.
          2) At 200 meters SC-130VPS will lose less energy than 7n23, it has better BC (BC).
          3) In caliber 7,62x39 there are no tungsten carbide cores, if my memory serves me, heat-strengthened 65G or U12

The mass of bullets is different! What is the result of mass multiplied by speed?

The mass of bullets is different!

To this you will reasonably be answered that the speed of the bullets is different.
What is the result of mass multiplied by speed?

Here it is more reasonable not to multiply the mass by the speed, but to divide the mass by the cross-sectional area of the bullet - the lateral load parameter determines not only the remainder of the energy delivered to the target, but also the ability to penetrate the obstacle. And for SC-130VPS, the lateral load is 3,3 times higher than that of 7n23 7,62x39

... All you have to do is turn on a cheap crusher bought on Aliexpress, and this wireless wunderwolf turns into a pumpkin.

A dubious pleasure if you shoot the STs-130VPS cartridge. And the SC-130PT / PT2 are also quite tough, but not critical. Personally, neither this rifle, nor shooting from it excites enthusiasm either in sensations or in results.
The most valuable thing in the complex is the plastic boxes for cartridges))) You take out the aluminum cradle - and an excellent container is ready for all the small things.
By the way, the VSSK muffler is made of the RPG-18 body, due to which, despite its impressive dimensions, it has a rather small mass.

Interesting. If an AK-47 was flashing a rail, would you be able to flush a bulletproof vest?

The AK-47 did not "flash" the railroad track and would not flash it, but it did flash the PC at a distance of about 300-400. I saw it myself, I served as a machine gunner. All the rest are rumors.

Yeah ... Understand this pearl as you want ...
from a distance of 200 m can penetrate 20 mm of steel

Then the big question is about the quality of steel.

Even if it doesn't break through, it won't seem a little. What happens when a bullet hits the plate of the body armor without piercing it? - she gives her speed according to the law of conservation of momentum.
Take, for example, an armor plate weighing 2kg. We shoot at it from AKM bullet mass 8g, muzzle velocity 715m / s. We get the speed of the plate after being hit by a bullet V = 0,008x715 / 2 = 2,86 m / s. The energy with which the plate hits you in the chest Ek = 2,86 ^ 2x2 / 2 = 8,2J.
For a sniper bullet "Exhaust", weighing 59 g, at a speed of 290 m / s we get 8,55 m / s and 73,2 J, respectively, and for an armor-piercing bullet weighing 76 g at the same speed, already 11,02 m / s and 121 J. understanding, 121 J, this is a drop of 24 kg of kettlebell on the chest from outstretched arms in a prone position - multiple fractures of the ribs are provided, quite possibly with a fatal outcome.

I can't say about the penetration of a bulletproof vest with a subsonic ammunition, but the same Desert Eagle with his absolutely scrap cartridge .50AE can cope with the armor in no way. The prohibitive action will be, as from a meeting with a steam locomotive, but a breakthrough?

If you meant kinetic energy, then you need to convert the mass of the bullet into newtons
0.78N, then multiply it by the speed of 290m / sv squared and divide by 2, you get 32.8 kilojoules, and 72 J happens to not very strong bows, which is equivalent to lifting 7kg per 1m.
