Aerospace salon ILA-2012 is over

5
Last week, the Berlin Expocentre Airport (Berlin ExpoCenter Airport), opened in July of this year, hosted its first exhibition. September 11 with the participation of German Chancellor A. Merkel held the opening ceremony of the international aerospace exhibition ILA-2012. In the pavilions and open areas, products from more than 1200 firms from 36 countries were presented. In addition, everyone could get acquainted with the 282 aircraft, exhibited in the pavilions and parking areas.

Against the background of the previous ones, the 2012 ILA exhibition is interesting not only because a new Expocenter was built specifically for its holding at the airport of Berlin-Brandenburg. Last year, the Presidium of the German Aerospace Industry Association decided to change the traditional time of the salon. Before it was held in late spring. However, the Berlin aerospace exhibition takes place in even years, like the French Eurosatory salon and the English Farnborough. So that preparations for the exhibitions did not overlap, it was decided to hold ILA-2012 for September-month. With the help of postponing the dates, the organizers hoped to attract the attention of specialists and amateurs aviationwho wouldn’t have to choose which event to go to. Over six days of operation, the ILA-2012 salon was visited by more than two hundred thousand people, which is more than before. Obviously, the decision to change the date was right.

Berlin Aerospace Exhibition is still considered not the most prestigious specialists. Perhaps it is for this reason that no major and significant contracts were concluded at ILA-2012, and the leaders of the participating countries did not show much interest in the salon. Of the heads of state at ILA-2012, only A. Merkel was noticed, who opened the salon. At the same time, it was not without some interesting new products in the organization of the salon and its exhibition venues. So, for the first time in stories ILA for unmanned aerial vehicles was allocated to a separate parking lot. Previously, such equipment was exhibited in closed pavilions or in open areas, next to other products of the aerospace industry and without any allocation to a separate sector.

In the flight program of the ILA-2012 cabin there was a place for long-awaited demonstration flights of the promising transport aircraft Airbus A400M. Earlier it was expected that this air truck would “visit” the Farnborough-2012 salon, but then it was not possible to conduct demonstration flights. Shortly before the start of the English show, one of the experienced aircraft discovered chips in the engine oil, due to which all flights were canceled for a while. It took several months to inspect and repair Europrop TP400-D6 turboprop engines, and A400M was able to rise to the sky again only at the beginning of the Berlin exhibition. However, the resumption of flights has not yet led to the proper result. The package of orders for the new transport aircraft remained the same and contains an agreement for the supply of about 170-180 units in eight countries. The list of customers has not increased for several years. The reason for this was various difficulties in the design and testing of the Airbus A400M. It is possible that new flights, including international ones, will attract the attention of any potential customers.

MiG-35

From Russia in the exhibition ILA-2012 participated 57 enterprises. The MiG-35 fighter, first shown in Berlin, was of the greatest interest to aviation professionals and amateurs. The 4 ++ generation aircraft is a deep upgrade of the older MiG-29 and has higher performance. The combination of technical and combat characteristics of this aircraft makes it a serious and promising bidder for the supply, even despite the recent loss in the Indian competition. At the Berlin salon, no agreements were signed regarding this fighter, but a number of foreign commanders showed interest in it. Perhaps, the negotiations on the supply will be initiated a little later.

Holding "Helicopters of Russia" presented at ILA-2012 several already announced projects. They included Ka-32А11BC, not only known abroad, but also purchased by some countries, as well as new Ka-62, Mi-38 and Mi-117А2. The last three helicopters are currently at different stages of testing. In the coming years, they will begin mass production and delivery to customers. As in the case of the MiG-35, Russian helicopters attracted the attention of foreign specialists and representatives of potential operators. However, any information about the new contracts signed or planned for signing has not yet been received. However, the absence of such information does not seem to prevent the Russian Helicopters from fulfilling the conditions of the already signed agreements and increasing production rates. It is reported that this year customers will receive 300 helicopters of various types. For comparison, we recall that last year 262 rotary-wing machines were assembled and delivered. The growth rate of production is evident. In addition, the holding is completing preparations for issuing Eurobonds worth about three hundred million dollars. The approximate release date is the end of the current year.

Ka-32А11ВС helicopter

The aerospace industry did not lag behind the aviation enterprises. The Roscosmos stand, on which the exposition of space enterprises was combined, was of considerable size. So, Progress, the State Space Design Bureau, has put out models of the Soyuz family of missiles, including the newest Soyuz-2-3В and models of several spacecraft. During the press conferences, it was announced that in the coming years, Soyuz rockets of various modifications could be used to launch German SAR Lupe-2 satellites. Before 2017, the satellites of this family in orbit will develop a resource and will need to be replaced. Currently, negotiations are underway to jointly launch new spacecraft into orbit. Other news from TsSKB “Progress” concerns already planned launches. Earlier it was reported that 19 Soyuz launch vehicles should be launched this year. Seven launches have already taken place and twelve more will be completed by the end of the year. Two launches, in November and December, will be performed from the Kourou cosmodrome, located in French Guiana.

Pleasant news followed from other domestic enterprises of the space industry. At the stand GKNPTs them. Mv Khrunichev presented mock-ups of already existing Proton-M and Rokotov, as well as those designed by Angar. However, more interesting is not the exposition of the Center, but the statements of its representatives. Thus, in recent years, from 2005 to 2011, the financial “volume” of commercial launches has increased fivefold. In 2011, total commercial contracts exceeded 770 million US dollars. Despite the solid age of the Proton launch vehicle family, the GKNPTs them. Khrunichev is not going to give it up. Over the past ten years, 90 launches of such missiles have been made and orders have already been scheduled for several years in advance. Therefore, the "Protons" will be upgraded and will remain the main heavy carrier in our country. At the first press conference with representatives of the Khrunichev Center, the good news was announced: NPO Energomash completed the production of the first batch of RD-191 liquid rocket engines and sent them to GKNPTs. Thanks to this, the work on the Angara project is going on without delay, the first test launch can take place as early as next year. Over the next years, it is planned to complete the testing and refinement of the Angara family of missiles and to complete the design of a heavy carrier belonging to it. In the future, the hard version of the "Angara" will replace the "Protons-M".

Another leading enterprise of the domestic space industry - NPO them. S.A. Lavochkina - shared her plans for the coming years. As before, this organization will be engaged in the creation of new spacecraft for various purposes. At the stand of the research and production association, mock-ups of the orbital observatories of the Spektr family and the automatic station Luna-Resource were displayed. The last one in 2017 will open a string of several Russian projects on the exploration of the Moon. In the future, domestic stations will go to Venus, Mars, and even to one of the satellites of Jupiter. The project of the automatic station "long range" is now in the stage of elaboration of the approximate appearance. It has not even been decided where the probe will fly to Europe or to Ganymede. The start of full development is planned for 2014-15 years.

Finally, a few numbers about the cabin itself. According to official data from the organizers of ILA-2012, this year the exhibition was the largest and most attended event in the history. The total number of visitors - both representatives of specialized organizations and ordinary viewers - reached the 230 mark of thousands of people. In the press, more than 3600 journalists from 65 countries covered the salon. 282 aircraft of all classes were demonstrated at the berths, and the total duration of demonstration flights exceeded the 36 hours. The total value of the contracts concluded at the salon has not yet been named. Of course, in terms of a number of indicators, ILA still loses to recognized leaders in the exhibition business: being the same age as Le Bourget, the Berlin Salon collects almost half as many viewers and specialists. It is possible that more people will come to the next exhibition in Germany and the ILA will come closer to its competitors. The next aerospace show in Berlin is scheduled for the end of May 2014.

Because it didn’t end with anything special - there are no multi-million dollar contracts - there is no coverage.

The salon is modest, maybe so good. You can take a leisurely view and study everything with a proper arrangement. And beer "any for a hundred" will not be imposed through every step.

"In the future, domestic stations will go to Venus, Mars and even one of Jupiter's moons." ----- And also, apple trees will bloom on Mars!
