After the talks between Putin and Biden, the question arose of possible mutual concessions between Moscow and Washington
After the talks between the presidents of Russia and the United States held last week, the question of the specifics of these talks, of possible concessions from Moscow and Washington, hung in the air. It is clear - Ukraine, it is clear - security. But the question is this: did Vladimir Putin promise something to Joseph Biden, and vice versa - did Biden promise anything to Putin?
We must proceed from the fact that these negotiations themselves began after Moscow indicated a tough position. Vladimir Putin noted that Moscow intends to seek from NATO legal guarantees of further non-expansion to the east and non-deployment of strike weapons near the borders of Russia. Otherwise, as stated by the President of Russia, the Russian Federation will not remain unanswered.
The United States was alerted by these words, and this is obvious. Otherwise, there would have been no Biden's interest in negotiations with his Russian counterpart. As a result, we talked. By video link, but still.
Considering that immediately after the conversation with Putin, Biden decided to suspend the sending of another $ 200 million worth of military aid to Ukraine, it can be assumed that agreements did take place.
Experts believe that Putin has indicated to Biden (once again) the Russian position - a tough response will be given when NATO moves to the borders of Russia. Biden showed an interest in dialogue, in a direct conversation, although an impressive "support group", including Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, was present with him in the office for remote negotiations.
Another possible agreement, a concession that can be pointed out: the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. The United States removed the item on sanctions against SP-2 from its draft military budget for next year. This suggests that gas through the SP-2 will definitely go next year, and the United States "will watch how after that Russia will behave towards Ukraine."
