"Having problems with voice while serving in the cold in Estonia": British soldier sues the Ministry of Defense
The British press released material with reference to the press service of the United Kingdom's Ministry of Defense. This article tells about a remarkable precedent - a lawsuit against the British military department from one of the servicemen, who at one time was part of the NATO contingent in the Baltic States.
The British The Sun and Daily Mail give the name of a black soldier who has filed a lawsuit against the British Ministry of Defense. This is Chileshe Mwamba. He demands from the department almost a million euros (860 thousand pounds) for the fact that while on a business trip in Estonia as part of a British unit "began to lose his voice due to severe cold weather."
Mwamba's lawyers state that their client intends to seek compensation for "damage caused to his health while serving in Estonia":
Now Chileshe Mwamba, as he himself declares, cannot get a good position, since “speech has only partially recovered after serving in Estonia”.
The British press writes that Mwamba stuttered since childhood, but "it was the service in Estonia in the cold that aggravated the situation."
How long did this British soldier's trip to Estonia last?
It turned out to be just over 3 weeks: from November 10 to December 3, 2017.
The court hearing on the suit of the serviceman is to be held in 2022.
Meanwhile, the British Ministry of Defense believes that Mwamba will still have to prove that his stuttering was aggravated precisely after the Estonian business trip, and not for reasons that have nothing to do with it.
