Czech diplomat: If NATO begins to fight for Ukraine against Russia, it will only be in the form of a "verbal skirmish"
The Czech press released a material in which the statements of the diplomat Yaroslav Novotny, assessing the situation in and around Ukraine, are cited. One of the areas for discussion is related to the accusations that are being voiced against Russia about an offensive that Moscow is supposedly preparing.
Yaroslav Novotny notes that skirmishes between NATO and Russia have long become almost commonplace. Both the alliance and Russia have a range of interests, and therefore friction is inevitable. At the same time, according to the Czech diplomat, the North Atlantic bloc will not use troops in the event of hostilities in Ukraine, and at the same time Stoltenberg rhetorically denies Moscow any spheres of influence.
Novotny points to the NATO charter. If the alliance does not comply with it and sends the military to participate in hostilities in a non-NATO country, then for many member countries this will be a "negative precedent."
In fact, the Czech diplomat makes it clear that NATO countries are not ready to fight for Ukraine - at least, most of them are acting from just such positions.
Novotny reminds that Russia is the owner of the latest weapons, including hypersonic ones, and therefore it is impossible to ignore the possibility of their use by the Russian army in the event of an armed conflict. The Czech diplomat adds that the very existence of such weapons in Russia, it hypothetically poses a threat to both Europe and the United States if the conflict spills over into a military phase.
The Czech journalist asked Novotna, “who made the mess” in terms of fanning the rhetoric around a possible war. The diplomat pointed out that it is beneficial for Kiev to exaggerate the topic of the Russian offensive today in order to divert attention from numerous internal problems.
Novotny - for the Parlamentní listy:
This is another statement in which Kiev is made to understand that even if he himself aggravates the situation, he should not expect military assistance from the Western military bloc. For all its odious policies, NATO still has a sense of self-preservation.
