Russian 201st military base in Tajikistan strengthened with new tanks... According to the press service of the Central Military District, the T-72B3 MBT batch entered service with the base's tank battalion.

The Russian military department continues to strengthen military bases located on the territory of foreign states, especially the 201st military base located in Tajikistan and the Kant airbase in Kyrgyzstan. Both bases are located on the territory of states bordering Afghanistan, where the Taliban * (a terrorist organization banned in Russia) came to power at the end of this summer. Although the new Afghan authorities declare their peaceful intentions, one should not rule out the possibility of attempts to break through to neighboring countries.

Against this background, the Russian Ministry of Defense has begun the rearmament of military bases. As previously reported, recently a batch of modernized BMP-201M, Mi-2-MTV8-5 helicopters, small arms weapon, ATGM "Cornet" and flamethrowers. The delivery of the upgraded tanks was also announced and finally took place. 30 T-72B3 tanks immediately arrived at the base, i.e. battalion. The new tanks replaced the existing T-72 tanks of the previous modifications.

T-72B3 is a modernized version of the T-72 main battle tank. The T-72B3 is equipped with more powerful engines of 1130 hp, an improved fire control system with a digital ballistic computer, a sight with a laser rangefinder and an anti-tank missile control system, digital communications of the latest generation, and a rear view camera. The armor of the T-72B3 is reinforced with side shields with "Relikt" reactive armor modules, hinged lattice screens, as well as new reactive armor systems in a "soft" hull.

The 201st Russian military base, stationed in Tajikistan, is the largest Russian military facility in the region.

so there it is generally necessary to update the entire base, and not the tanks, there already the DShB will not hurt, or something more destructive
for the Basmachi ... although where can we go further. Why don't the 90s go by the way?

Dedkasty, it is much cheaper to upgrade the existing T-72B,
At the same time, the T-72B3 is not much inferior to the T-90.
In an EXTREME case, there is a BMPT "Terminator".
Against IS and Co. (not yet the Taliban) it is quite enough.

The Taliban, except with Russia and China, have no way to maintain more or less constructive relations, they will not climb into Tajikistan and other countries of Central Asia, in an amicable way, they now need to position themselves soft and fluffy

"A drop in the ocean" but slowly accumulate .. To recall 10 years ago that there was something yes - the right thing ... Zhirinovsky back in 2001 said in the government that the Taliban had to recognize the tax, they were ready for a lot ...

Judging by the photo to the article, the T-72B was sent

If, according to the content of the article, then they should have come
      T-72B3 (2011)

      or T-72B3 (2016)

      And which one?

This is not clear to me: an informational article, and a photo from the bulldozer.
It should not be there at all, or should correspond to what was written.
          I think so.
