“Embouch” submarine of class “Estyut” is ready for marine testing

The “Embush” class “Estiut” submarine will soon leave the shipyard of the company “BAe Systems” in Barrow-in-Furness and will head for the sea trials to the Clyde naval base in Scotland, the Ministry of Defense of Great Britain informs.

According to the contract, BAE Systems, which is the main contractor of the program, is to build 7 Estel-class submarines for the British Navy.

The head submarine of the series "Estate" was laid down on January 31, 2001 and officially handed over to the British Navy in November 2010. The embush launching ceremony was held in December 2010. As planned, the submarine will be part of the British fleet in 2013. Currently under construction are another 4 submarines of the class "Estate".

The third submarine "Artfall" is in a high state of readiness. All elements of the durable hull of the fourth submarine "Odeyshes" delivered to the company, they are being combined. Purchased materials with a long production time for the sixth submarine. Cutting steel for its construction will begin at the end of 2012.

Estel class submarines are the largest and most powerful multipurpose submarines of the British Navy. They are intended both for operations in the fleet, and in isolation from the main forces, and can be used to perform the tasks of fighting enemy surface ships and submarines and attacking ground targets. In addition, submarines can be used to land troops and gather intelligence information.

Compared with the submarines in service, the estuy class boats have little visibility and improved capabilities for operations in coastal shallow waters. The submarine is equipped with a Rolls-Royce PWR-2 nuclear reactor, which does not need to be refueled for the entire 25-year estimated life cycle, and equipment for producing oxygen from seawater.

Russia and the United States eliminated a class of ballistic missiles 14 September 2012, 18: 56

Moscow and Washington completed the process of eliminating one of the classes of ballistic missiles, according to a statement posted on the US Embassy’s online blog in Moscow.

«On September 7, 2012, the US and the Russian Federation completed the elimination of a whole class of submarine ballistic missileto, ”it was informed.

The diplomatic mission clarified that this refers to the RSM-52 missiles equipped with nuclear warheads with a capacity of up to 100 kilotons. “As part of a 12-year project, 78 RSM-52 missiles were destroyed”- the embassy notes, Interfax reports.

R-39 missile (START code RSM-52, according to NATO classification - SS-N-20 Sturgeon) is designed to destroy strategic targets at intercontinental distances. Adopted by the Navy in 1983.

Designed for deployment on heavy strategic missile submarines of strategic design 941 "Shark" as part of the D-19 missile system, ammunition - 20 missiles.

TRPKSN Project 941 - the world's largest nuclear submarines. In accordance with the strategic arms limitation treaty, the OSV-2, due to lack of funds to maintain the boats in operational condition and due to the cessation of production of R-39 missiles, it was decided to utilize three of the six constructed project ships, and the seventh ship, TK-210 Do not finish building.

Ships TK-202, TK-12 "Simbirsk", TK-13 were disposed of. The US authorities provided financial support in this process, including through the Russian-US Joint Threat Reduction program..

TK-20 Severstal was put into reserve in 2004. TK-17 "Arkhangelsk" due to lack of ammunition was withdrawn in reserve in 2006, the crew was reduced.

The Internet is teeming with info
Estute-class nuclear submarines are designed to operate as part of the fleet and in isolation from the main forces when performing the tasks of fighting enemy ships and submarines, attacking ground targets, carrying out amphibious assault operations and collecting intelligence information. Compared to existing nuclear submarines, "Estute "has less visibility, improved capabilities for operations in shallow coastal waters. The length of the nuclear submarine is 97 m, the maximum width is 11,2 m, the displacement is 7800 tons, the immersion depth is 300 m, the autonomy is 90 days, the crew is 98 people.

The full speed of the nuclear submarine was not disclosed (according to official information - more than 20 knots, according to unofficial information - about 30 knots). The submarine is equipped with a Rolls-Royce PWR 2 nuclear reactor, which does not require refueling for a 25-year service life and equipment to produce oxygen from seawater. The Estute is equipped with 38 heavy Sperfish torpedoes and Block-4 Tomahawk cruise missiles fired from six 533-mm torpedo tubes. The detection range of targets of the GAS type 2076 is 3000 nautical miles (5500 km). The traditional periscope has been replaced by an optoelectronic mast that provides a 360 degree view.

I have not yet been able to find the characteristics of the Sonar 2076 in English sources, except that it has 13000 hydrophones, and the computing power corresponds to 60 home PCs, but there is an interesting figurative description of it:
A good analogy for the performance of Sonar 2076 is that if the submarine was in Winchester it would be able to track a double decker bus going round Trafalgar Square "(a distance of 60 miles).
In Russian: a good analogy to the effectiveness of a 2076 sonar — if the submarine is in Winchester, it will be able to track the movement of a bus circling Trafalgar Square (60 miles away).
This is a little like 3000 miles.

The boat is equipped with 38 weapons - Spearfish heavy torpedoes and cruise missiles to destroy ground targets Tomahawk, is capable of fighting submarines, surface ships and ground targets. The Sonar 2076 GAS is capable of detecting targets at a distance of 3000 miles (5500 km). At the end of 2009, the submarine passed the first stage of sea trials, where it demonstrated the ability to act at all depths and speeds. However, the boat will return to sea for further testing. From 2016, the Faslane base will be the place of registration of the Astute and Audacious boats, which are under construction and fine-tuning.

Rear Admiral Simon Lister, curator of the construction of this type of nuclear submarine, compared the reliability and accuracy of Astute’s operations with the “7000-ton Swiss watch,” and the quality of construction with “brain microsurgery.”

It is reported that the length of the boat is 97 m, a displacement of 7400 tons, the length of the cables inside the submarine is enough to run them from Glasgow to Dundee. The submarine has a berth for each crew member (98 people). The submarine's underwater speed is over 20 knots, but its maximum speed is classified. During the combat patrol, the crew is fed five cooks, which will cook up to 18 thousand sausages and 4200 servings of delicious breakfasts..

It can be seen lunches and dinners are canceled only sausages and "delicious breakfasts" wassat

Yes, I’m just sitting and watching .. for example, on a dashboard
Spearfish torpedo was developed and manufactured by Marconi based on specification number 7525 from the British Navy headquarters. This universal heavy torpedo with remote control appeared during the Cold War and was intended to deal with the new generation Russian submarines operating at great depths. It is equipped with a Sandstrand 21TP01 gas turbine and a hydroreactive system that accelerates a torpedo to a speed of over 60 knots. The warhead carries a directional charge designed to penetrate the double hull of Russian submarines of the Oscar and Typhoon class. Computer control allows the dashboard to make its own tactical decisions during the battle.

Now I will see if we have something like that.
as an example about the reactor, I "hinted". then I will also look at the pros and cons ... of such reactors ... but I'm not an atomic scientist or a sailor ...

In the 80s, in the research institute "Morteplotekhnika" a remote-controlled torpedo of the UGST was created in two versions. The basic version of the torpedo is for domestic torpedo tubes, and the export version is for NATO standard torpedo tubes. Both torpedoes have a caliber of 533 mm. The length of the basic version is 7,2 m, and the export version is 6,1 m. Weight is 1980 kg and 1680 kg, respectively. The warhead of the torpedo contains 205 kg of explosive. The torpedo has 2 modes: at a speed of 50 knots, the range is 40 km, at a speed of 30 knots - up to 50 km. Depth of stroke is up to 500 m. Torpedo shooting is possible from a submarine located at a depth of up to 400 m. The power plant of the UGST torpedo is based on an axial piston engine developed by the Scientific Research Institute "Morteplotekhnika". A feature of the engine is a rotating combustion chamber, into which fuel is supplied by a high-pressure plunger pump under pressure up to 35 MPa. A well-proven liquid single-component fuel is used. ...

-Jutland battle ...- combat draw ... and the Germans are confident in their victory so far
-The invincible Armada to remember .... so again the storm destroyed the Spaniards almost the entire fleet

Of course . there were no arguing victories ... but we will have brighter = Sinop, Chesma, Gangut and much, much more

The same Yankees say that their traditions are steeper than that of the Russians forgot that during the independence war it was the Russian squadron that came to their aid ....... so. That the question is still so interesting ..
