Foreign press: Kurds rejected Moscow's offer to station Russian military contingent in Kobani
The Kurds rejected Moscow's offer to deploy a three-thousandth contingent of the Russian army in Kobani, but intend to continue negotiations with Russia on a settlement in northeastern Syria. Writes about this the author of an article for the British edition of Al-Quds.
The foreign press writes that the executive committee of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) rejected Russia's proposal to station Russian troops in Kobani, explaining that it was afraid of a repetition of the settlement scenario applied in Daraa. In other words, the Kurds fear that, under the cover of the Russian military, as the British newspaper writes, official Damascus will come to the region and take control of the city from them, i.e. will establish full control over the Kurdish territories.
On the other hand, the Kurds are not opposed to remaining within the Syrian state, but with the preservation of autonomy, culture and identity. Therefore, although the Kurds turned down Moscow, they do not mind continuing negotiations and offering a more tasty morsel. According to the author of the article, the Kurds intend to demand from Moscow state guarantees of maximum independence in exchange for "expelling" the United States from this region.
Now in the north-east of Syria, a rather difficult situation has developed. On the one hand, Turkey with its pro-Turkish militants, on the other, a government army with Russian support. The Americans cannot help in this situation, they themselves have problems up to their throats and they have long wanted to leave the region due to the lack of any prospects. The Kurds, who are supported by the Americans, will be left alone with Ankara and Damascus, capable of reaching an agreement among themselves.
In this position, the Kurds can only turn to Moscow and go under the arm of Russia, but with guarantees of maintaining autonomy within Syria, otherwise they will have full control of the Syrian regime.
