The reports of the loss of the helicopter by the country's border service have been confirmed. The reports state that the helicopter crashed during a training flight.
According to the latest information, the helicopter belonged to Azerbaijani border guards. He took off at about half-past eleven local time from the Garaheybat airfield in the Khizi region. This is the eastern part of the country, located quite far from the state border of Azerbaijan. After some time, the crew lost control of the rotorcraft, and it began to fall.
Azerbaijani sources say there are people killed and injured as a result of the fall. Seriously injured servicemen of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan were sent to a military hospital. So far, there is no data on the condition of the injured.
The command of the border service and a special group of the General Prosecutor's Office of the republic began to clarify all the circumstances of the incident.
The specific helicopter crashed in Azerbaijan has not yet been reported. It is known that the border service is armed with Mi-17 and Mi-35 helicopters.
At the moment, two main causes of the disaster are being considered: crew error and the technical condition of the helicopter. In the near future, information should shed light on the specific reason after the decoding of the flight recorder.
