November 30 - Day of Remembrance for All Victims of the Use of Chemical Weapons

Memorial Day for All Victims of Chemical weapons the world community celebrates November 30th. It reminds people of the horrors of chemical warfare and ensures that this type of weapon is never used.

The most massive casualties as a result of the use of chemical weapons were noted at the beginning of the last century, during the First World War. Then about one hundred thousand people died from him. The toxic substances used by the opposing sides not only killed the enemy soldiers, but also caused irreparable damage to health, turned people into cripples.

Later, this type of weapon became so "perfect" that it was capable of making territories uninhabitable for decades. The United States achieved great "successes" in this, using these barbaric methods of waging the war in Vietnam.

Today, chemical weapons are prohibited from being used throughout the world, so that the scale of their use has significantly decreased, although it has not yet been possible to completely eradicate them.

On the other hand, this ban has also become a kind of weapon. For example, Syrian militants stage staging and provocations, accusing government forces of using poisonous substances.

In particular, such a provocation was staged by the Western edition of Bellingcat, which inflated rumors in 2018 about a chemical attack allegedly committed by the Syrian military in Eastern Ghouta. Then there were fierce battles of the SAA with the opposition, and Russian soldiers helped to evacuate the civilian population. So, the residents of this area, as it turned out, not only were not exposed to toxic substances, but also had not heard anything about the chemical attack.

In 2019, radicals from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (a terrorist organization banned in the Russian Federation) decided to organize a provocation more "naturally". The locales of Jisr al-Shugur and Maaret al-Numan in the Idlib province bordering Turkey were chosen as the venue for the "performance". They even brought barrels with toxic substances, from which the people were supposed to be “saved” by the “White Helmets”. But the Syrian military managed to find out about the preparation of the action in advance and to make public information about the provocation.

The "poisonings" of the Skripals and Alexei Navalny are also on a par with the Syrian incidents.

Despite all these incidents, chemical weapons are not a legend; they do exist and pose a real threat. Therefore, there is a Convention on the prohibition of its development, production, storage and distribution, which has been signed by many countries of the world, including the Russian Federation.

No, seriously, why on November 30th?
What exactly did Russia do on November 30? (For the gifted, this is sarcasm!)

I remember the short film "Attack of the Dead. Osovets". It is dedicated to one of the famous episodes of the First World War, namely the counterattack of the 13th company of the 226th Zemlyansky regiment when repelling the German gas attack on July 24 (August 6) 1915. On YouTube there is.

Losses from gases turned out to be significant. As the commandant wrote: “The gas released from the cylinders, dark greenish in color, quickly moved forward to the fortress, expanding to the sides and upward with a rapid forward movement. On the one hand, the action of the gas cloud formed a curtain hiding the enemy's approach, and on the other hand, it mortally poisoned everything that passed ... Under the influence of poisonous gases, the first victims were the reconnaissance parties and secrets, which all died; the effect of gases on the trenches must also be considered fatal, and later, at a distance of up to 3-4 versts, more than 1 poisoned and strangled people left the fortress's garrison. However, their actions were not very successful. Somewhere the Germans themselves fell under the influence of gases, in the other direction they were stopped by a team of scouts, in the third they failed to break through the barbed wire. Lieutenant P. Efimov recalled the heroism of the Russian machine gunner in the central sector of the Sosnenskaya position: "The only Russian machine gunner who survived managed to release two belts of cartridges at close range and fell on the machine gun, not having time to put in the third belt."
At this time, three companies were sent from the fortress to a counterattack with the support of artillery. The 13th company of the 226th infantry Zemlyansky regiment showed special heroism - a little more than 60 people.
      second lieutenant Kotlinsky
mortally wounded that day, who, after a long battle in accordance with all the rules of military art, managed to knock the enemy out of their positions and capture 25 people. The 14th company of Ensign Tidebel also showed itself: it restored the position on the left flank of the Sosnenskaya position and captured 15 prisoners.

So let us congratulate the Skripals and Sisyan on their holiday. According to the Western version. But seriously, let us remember the victims of fascism, Japanese militarism, American imperialism and, to the regret of the USSR. And it's a pity that Aloizych survived, was not poisoned.

But the "bulwark of democracy" does not even think about eliminating its stocks of OM! They say there is no money for this - everything goes to contain Russia! The liquidation program is assigned to 2023, with the possibility of an indefinite postponement! And we, as always, are ahead of the rest of the planet - in 2017 we have already destroyed everything and cut production facilities into ferrous metal.

There was a dull mention of how in the First Chechenskaya in Grozny, the militants also tried to use chemical agents, spilling hydrocyanic acid at one of the sites.

November 30 - Day of Remembrance for All Victims of the Use of Chemical Weapons

A bit of history to refresh your memory. Although we are talking about April.
In April 1915, the Germans used toxic substances for the first time as a weapon of mass destruction. The Ypres attack was a war crime. The First World War was going on. On the evening of April 22, 1915, opposing German and French troops were under the Belgian city of Ypres. They fought for the city for a long time and to no avail. But this evening the Germans wanted to test a new weapon - poison gas. They brought with them thousands of cylinders, and when the wind blew towards the enemy, they opened the taps, releasing 180 tons of chlorine into the air. A yellowish gas cloud was blown towards the enemy line by the wind.

The panic began. The French soldiers immersed in the gas cloud were blind, coughing and suffocating. Three thousand of them died of suffocation, another seven thousand were burned.

If my memory serves me, then the personnel of the unit, exposed to the herd of chemical warfare agent, must have time to process "personal protective equipment, equipment and open parts of weapons" with liquid from individual anti-chemical bags within 5 minutes; after three minutes of exposure to this toxic substance, about 20% l / s will be sent, simply because someone does not have a gas mask and / or OZK tightly attached. After 10 minutes of exposure, it makes no sense to wipe off: the substance will penetrate the skin even through protective clothing. For the same reason, if I remember correctly, uniforms and protective equipment are not degassed after exposure to sarin or herd, or OV "V". They are carefully collected in hermetic bags and buried in the ground. Faces and hands are degassed by sweat.
