Starley's marriage
I have already said that I was removed from the position of navigator of the ship and from new equipment for divorce from my wife and sent to serve as the "eternal" second navigator in the Tu-16 squadron at the time when everyone went to Nikolaev to retrain on new Tu-22m2 aircraft.
I got divorced for a reason, but in order to create a new family with a woman whom I met on vacation. I was going to get married, being in Nikolaev on retraining, and now the retraining was canceled for me, I had already taken my vacation.
How to get to Yalta, where the subject of marriage lived, from the very Far East?
In general, time passed, two squadrons of the regiment were retrained in Nikolaev on Tu-22m2, and our squadron of Tu-16 planes sat on Sakhalin, flew "minimum" and everything that was needed according to the flight training plan.
I flew in the crew of the deputy squadron commander, a lieutenant colonel nicknamed Grandfather, and all the time I kept telling him that I needed a short-term vacation with a trip to Yalta in order to get married. My grandfather laughed, said that the separation of true love is not a hindrance, and hinted that everything will work out for me, I just need to wait a little.
In September, our squadron flew to the base, the squadron commander went on a planned vacation, and my commander, Grandfather, remained the most important in the regiment.
Taking advantage of the prevailing situation, my grandfather let me go on vacation "for family reasons" for 10 days, and 4 more days were allocated to me on the road.
In general, Grandfather said that in 20 days I would be in the garrison.
I decided to go to get married in a beautiful naval uniform. No, not because I wanted to impress the bride, but to make it easier to get plane tickets. Well, I dressed up in the most gallant naval pilot and went to the city of Sovetskaya Gavan, where the nearest airport was located.
I arrived at the airport, found out that there were tickets, and everyone was happy to transport such a gallant pilot to Khabarovsk, but the planes still do not fly according to the weather, and we must wait until the weather improves.
Where is the military pilot waiting for the weather to improve?
Well, of course, in the buffet, sipping cognac and entertaining women with stories about their difficult fate.
When the weather did not improve at all and for today the flights were repulsed, I decided to spend the night in a city hotel, went to the city, but everything turned out a little differently as I had planned, and I spent the night at the commandant's office.
Nothing terrible happened, the next day I flew to Khabarovsk and then to Simferopol.
Wedding
September is the velvet season in Yalta, and I selflessly spent time on the beaches, in restaurants and bars, waiting for my brother to come on vacation. A few days later, my brother flew in, and we continued our pleasant stay. Once my brother drew my attention to the fact that I had not come to swim in the sea, and not to wander in taverns, but to get married, and it was time to do just this business.
I was not at all against getting married, so I took my brother, a bride and went to the city registry office, where I demanded to immediately register our marriage, arguing that the vacation would soon end, and I was still a bachelor. From the registry office I was sent to the city council (city administration), to some aunt-boss, who was supposed to give the command to register our marriage without a mandatory probationary period.
Let's go to the City Council.
They found the right aunt in the city council, I showed her my "Vacation ticket", where it was stated that after 3 days the vacation ends, and I need to fly to the very Far East. My aunt understood everything correctly, took my "vacation" to register it as a document giving the right to instant marriage, and studied it from all sides.
And on the back of this document of mine was a note made by the commandant of the Sovetskaya Gavan garrison:
My aunt carefully studied the "Vacation card" from both sides, and asked my future wife:
But the bride did not doubt me, my aunt put the necessary resolution on the "Vacation card" and called the registry office.
In general, we were quickly registered, and we went to some out-of-town restaurant to celebrate a wedding.
A couple of days later, my wife and I flew from Simferopol to Khabarovsk, then to Sovetskaya Gavan, and from there we arrived by car to the garrison, where we lived together happily ever after. And now we live, but no longer in the garrison.
