Another soldier left the formation

Today we have lost one more soldier in our ranks. Yuri Kovalchuk died, whose articles we published under the pseudonym Yegor Makhov.
Another soldier left the formation

Articles by Yuri Kovalchuk
Lost not only "Review", lost the Russian Spring, lost Donbass, lost Kherson. We have all lost a sincere person who ached with all our hearts for what is happening in Ukraine. Who dreamed of returning to his native Kherson not secretly, but as a winner, bringing light and new life.

It was not for nothing that I wrote "with all my heart." As a result, his big heart could not stand it. Let me down.

Usually, readers know little about what is hidden behind the author's name and surname. And it is not usually very interesting. And giving the last tribute to our colleague, I'll just write what I know about Yuri.

Yuri was born in the village of Novaya Kakhovka, near Kherson. Graduated from Kherson University, humanities. He did not serve in the army. Since 2003, he sharply opposed the perestroika that began in Ukraine. "Voice UA", "Nabat", "Political Navigator", "Alternative".

With the beginning of the "Russian Spring" he ended up in Crimea, but realized that he had nothing to do there. And he went to Slavyansk. In Slavyansk itself, where everything had already begun, Yuri did not get, and ended up in the militia of Kramatorsk. Coming out of the environment, he worked in Donetsk.

In 2014 he got to the "Peacemaker", since 2015 - on the wanted list. And in 2017, Yuri was arrested by the SBU while trying to enter Kherson. The reason was more than compelling: the sick mother stopped answering calls, acquaintances could not clarify the situation, in general, Yuri went ...

Moreover, he went there quite normally, but on the way back, three weeks later, he was detained by Russian border guards, who simply handed him over to the Ukrainian side.

They accepted him very happily on the "other" side. Kovalchuk spent seven months in a pre-trial detention center, lost several teeth, and several ribs were broken.

Received five years under article 260, part two, "Participation in illegal armed formations." But luck smiled, and at the last moment he was nevertheless included in the prisoner of war exchange program, although in fact Yuri was not.

Here it is worth recalling two people once again and expressing gratitude to them for Yuri. These are the head of the LPR working group on the exchange of prisoners of war Olga Kobtseva, and the DPR human rights ombudsman Daria Morozova. They did a lot to ensure that Yuri was free.

This is how Yuri's "merits" were appreciated in his native Kherson

Yura was exchanged, and he ended up in Lugansk. He received medical treatment and continued to work. There was no need to talk about joining the LPR Corps, the delays with the restoration of the passport dragged on for a very long time. Yura has had an LPR passport since 2016, but, of course, the Ukrainians did not give it back.

And it so happened that in 2018 our mutual friends introduced us. We talked only a few times, and then Yura started writing for the Review. The first material was released in October 2018. First of 234.

In fact, Yura has become our bureau in the Donbass. News and analysts from this region did not stop all this time and found their readers. Although we have many fans to criticize the topic of Donbass and Ukraine in general, they read Yura and read it with respect. He knew what he was writing about, wrote beautifully and with a soul.

The last article was published on October 1 this year.

Very sad. I didn’t finish, I didn’t tell, I didn’t speak. Insanely sorry for what happened. The fact that Yurino's heart simply could not bear the load that he placed on him.

The entire editorial board expresses our sympathy and condolences to all friends and colleagues of Yuri Kovalchuk for the loss that has befallen us. We have lost a lot with the departure of Yuri. A lot of warmth, understanding, comprehension. And it will be very difficult to recoup this.

Eternal memory to Yuri Kovalchuk, who gave everything so that people on the other side of the border could not just live, but live like people.

This is from the Russian side - "was captured by Russian border guards who just handed it over to the Ukrainian side " how to name?!
How could this have happened from the Russian side ?! This is a question for the Russian authorities!

Apparently he unofficially tried to cross the border. Or there were problems with the passport.

If it were so! But I had to read more than once how, at the request (!) Of the Ukrainian authorities, the Russian authorities tried to deport to Ukraine former militias from the DLNR who settled in Russia! How legal cases were brought up against the Russian volunteers who took part in the hostilities! Some of the people managed to be saved thanks to the efforts of a caring public, the most famous people in the country, thanks to political figures not indifferent to the Donbass topic ... But the other part, perhaps, still ended up in the SBU dungeons ... Russian "state structures" acted in the spirit of the proverb : "Make the fool pray to God; so he will break his forehead!" This is to the fact that the "structures" explained their actions "by the desire to unswervingly comply with Russian legislation!" ..

How could this have happened from the Russian side ?! This is a question for the Russian authorities!

It's very simple - before going to Kherson, he left his Russian documents at home so that the Ukrainian border guards would not get caught, and upon his return he ended up on a campaigner who, so as not to bother, handed over the citizen without documents, but most likely with a Ukrainian passport, to the adjacent side, where the detainee came from. And therefore, the question of the Russian authorities is incorrect. Illegal crossings must be prepared through a "window" at the border, like Stirlitz to Pastor Schlag.
And according to the article - the eternal memory of the soldier.

If this was an isolated case, then yes. But this is a systematic repetition. There were many episodes of extradition, you can at least ask Shargunov.
Hence the question - is this the strategy of the leadership of the Russian Federation in the direction of Ukraine? Incomprehensible in its stupidity and meaninglessness.

How can a Russian border guard understand who to turn in and whom to let? with expired Ukrainian documents, for example ... to let everyone pass? he says little there. and this also threatens the border guard.
maybe if he even showed a scan of a Russian passport there would be an option to break through. There is no chance to break through the passport of the LPR / DPR - otherwise the Ukrainians can send anyone to you.

First, at least he must be detained and taken to the place of detention. And do not take a person to the SBU right away, shouting that they are looking for him there for supporting Russia. SBU and PV of Ukraine - what is it - structures friendly to Russia now?
Secondly, what am I talking about? About the strategy in the Ukrainian direction, and not about specific border guards.

it is unlikely that the Russian border guard knows who is wanted by the SBU and who is not. moreover, he proceeds from the premise that the wanted person would not have been released.
if about the strategy, then everything has already been done. and there is no such problem. now everyone has Russian citizenship. those. the border guard will be able to pierce a person without a passport and will not send back. the problem is only in those who have citizenship of the LPR and DPR, but for some reason they did not bother to get a Russian one.
get Russian citizenship and you will not be handed over to the SBU.

                In the Republics, yes.
But what about the rest of the second-hand? Is it full of potentially interesting people who are stateless and persecuted by the repressive apparatus? How long does it sit, you know? They will come out. And how many managed to avoid reprisals and hide?
                Have you thought about them?
And how many more fighters like the deceased (God rest him) who have relatives in Ukraine?
But you never know yet. You haven't given citizenship to everyone yet.
But what about the residents of the recently captured Staromaryevka, whose Russian passports were confiscated by the SBU?

They just got used to living without rules, and then they are surprised that Russian border guards catch and demand a passport. And if there are no documents, then they act as the instruction prescribes, that is, they are sent back. And then hysterics begin in VO that Russia is surrendering someone, although people are not doing anything to at least be legal in the Russian legal field.

our border guards for such "work" need to be weighed.

Here is what Yuri said about this disgrace:
Already being on the Russian side, I did not spend money, but directly, seeing the border guard, I went to the border guard. In general, I did not go to the outskirts, but went to the village.
But, for some reason, the fighters of the frontier post, or they were in a very hurry home from their shift, wanted to get rid of me as soon as possible .... Or maybe, I would venture to suggest commodity-money relations between them and the Ukrainian border guards... Maybe there is "brotherly love", professional "feeling of love". The senses of other organs in other places and everything else.
But the fact that they gave me away, despite all my protests, after I convincingly explained to them who I am, who I am, and what awaits me in Ukraine.
Moreover, in spite of all my protests, they put my phone in my pocket, handcuffing my hands.
I destroyed the laptop in the process, after all. They could not start it later. And these devils passed the phone along with me to the dill... What good is it in this situation that I had a freshly purchased phone. But, nevertheless, the act is not trivial "

Come on! And exactly "such a law"?
You can give a step-by-step breakdown of actions when extraditing a person, indicating the points of job descriptions, laws and by-laws, why they had to act in this way and could not act otherwise "according to the law"? Only with an objective, and not biased in order to shield someone.
Just considering the severity of the consequences and the degree of damage to the interests of Russia, when they try to explain such obvious stupidity by the fact that "the system works according to the law," this is somehow frivolous. Are you taking us for fools?

Bright memory to you, warrior of Novorossiya!

Who sees our grief? Only we,
        Only our minds are preoccupied
The curse that fell upon us
And presses so that we are gone, -
Give a sign that we are still strong ...
        Give a sign!

Apparently because of his citizenship, he had problems with the border guards of the Russian Federation. Therefore, we can assume that he was a citizen of Ukraine.

The fact that Yurino's heart simply could not withstand the load that he put on him

You can live long without breaking your heart, without worries and emotions, without leaving memories of yourself.

If the memory of a departed person remains in people years later, then it is not in vain that he used his allotted life. Good and fond memory!

the Russian border guard hardly knows who the SBU is looking for,

Elementary. There would be a desire to check on the accounts of the Ukrainian side. Base "peacemaker", base of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ukrainian. on the search for pr-in is available in the open admission on the Internet. If you wish, it is not difficult to find out. Verified on its own personality. Found.

... And therefore, the question of the Russian authorities is incorrect.

For an illegal transition, he should be detained and the circumstances clarified, and in this case it is already a betrayal by Russia, and it began a long time ago

I read about Yura's death, for me a complete surprise ... We knew each other, we were exchanged together in December 2017. Once in the canteen of the hospital, where we were examined, a smiling young man approached me and asked: Are you Apukhtin? So we got to know each other, while walking, we shared our impressions of the past and the possibilities of how to continue the struggle further. On one of the sites he published an article for me, so they found out where I was in Kharkov. Then we parted ways, I went to Moscow, and he stayed in Donbass and wrote about life there. Yura had a talent for writing, an original style, especially about fighting. in which he participated. Several times we called up and kept in touch. Last year he got married and lived in Krasnodon, talking about his new family. The young man was going to live happily ever after, but now he is gone ... Thank you. A novel that they wrote about this caring person.
Regarding its issuance to Ukraine. He told. that the border was crossed illegally somewhere in the region of Kharkov. He was detained by Russian border guards and a Russian border guard officer, without informing the authorities, handed him over to the Ukrainian border guards. I was then surprised by the wildness of the situation, it was hard to believe that this was possible, but he told me about this case.
It's a shame. when such young and caring people leave ...
Bright memory and let the earth rest in peace for Yura!
