"Instead of admission to NATO": The press of Ukraine reacts to the delivery of a new batch of Javelin ATGMs from the United States to Kiev
Information about the next delivery of Javelin anti-tank missile systems to Ukraine has been confirmed. ATGMs arrived from the United States as part of a new batch of military-technical assistance. The unloading was carried out at the Boryspil airport, where the board landed.
We will remind that earlier in Washington, at first, military-technical assistance to Ukraine was suspended. This decision caused a storm of indignation in Kiev. President Zelensky even said that if "Western partners do not want to help Ukraine, then she will have to make her army the most powerful on the continent." After Zelensky added that "Ukraine can turn to the east." According to Zelensky, Kiev could start contacts with China. And this is after the sensational stories with Chinese investors and Motor Sich ...
The Javelins delivered to Ukraine as part of the third batch are estimated at $ 60 million. Thus, in recent years, about 65 such anti-tank systems and about 320 missiles for them have been delivered from the United States for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Javelin has been shipping since 2018.
In Ukraine itself, a batch of ATGMs sent from the United States is evaluated differently. If the pro-presidential media write about "Washington's confirmation of the course to support Ukraine", then in other media (for example, in the publication "Strana") they believe that this is "an attempt to buy off." In the material of the Ukrainian journalist Maksim Minin it is said that it "looks like a payoff from Biden - instead of Ukraine's admission to NATO."
