German politician from the SPD, which won the elections: It is necessary to put into operation "Nord Stream - 2"
Co-chairman of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) Norbert Walter-Borjans regrets that business partners are not chosen based on their political views. Therefore, he stands for economic partnership between Germany and the Russian Federation, because it brings benefits to both countries.
The German politician mentioned this in an interview for the Augsburger Allgemeine newspaper.
Walter-Boryans is sure that it is necessary to put Nord Stream 2 into operation, because it meets the economic interests of Germany. He believes that cooperation with Russia does not mean that Berlin becomes dependent on Moscow. On the contrary, it makes the FRG a more independent state.
- said the party leader.
At the moment, the process of forming a ruling coalition is underway in Germany, which should include the SPD, the Greens and the Free Democrats. At the same time, the Green Party has consistently opposed the launch of Nord Stream 2. They see the pipeline as a tool with which the Kremlin is allegedly blackmailing Europe.
Let us remind you that the SPD, following the results of the recent voting in Germany, became the winner. It is believed that the new chancellor, who should replace Angela Merkel, will represent the SPD.
Germany's neighbor Poland actively opposes the introduction of the SP-2 system.
