Russian warplanes check US air defenses off Alaska. According to the North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD), five Russian aircraft entered the air defense zone near the border of the United States and Canada.
According to NORAD, on October 21 (Moscow time it was already the 22nd day), five combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces entered the Alaska air defense identification zone, stayed in it for about an hour and a half, after which they left the air defense zone. It is noted that Russian aircraft did not enter the sovereign airspace of the United States and Canada.

The message from the North American Aerospace Defense Command lacks information about which Russian aircraft appeared in Alaska, but the Russian Ministry of Defense clarified by publishing its own message. According to him, on October 22, 2021, a pair of Russian strategic missile carriers Tu-95MS flew over the neutral waters of the Chukchi, Bering and Okhotsk seas. Cover for the strategists was provided by the Su-35S fighters of the Eastern Military District.
The total duration of the flight was more than 9 hours, the flight took place over neutral waters in accordance with international rules.
