Aksungur's new medium-altitude drone will enhance the capabilities of the Turkish Navy
The Turkish Navy has adopted the new medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) unmanned aerial vehicle Aksungur. The first batch of UAVs has already arrived in the Turkish Navy. fleetAs the head of Turkey's Defense Industry Directorate, Ismail Demir, reported on his Twitter page, UAV Aksungur will enhance the capabilities of the Turkish Navy.
The new drone was developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) based on the ANKA-S UAV, which was adopted into service in 2018. Unlike the basic version of the Aksungur UAV, also called Anka-Aksungur or Anka-2, it is made using a twin-boom design. Its main purpose is reconnaissance, patrolling and strikes.
The UAV is equipped with two Turkish turboprop engines PD-170 Dual Turbo Diesel with a capacity of 170 hp. each. The cruising speed is declared at 250 km / h, the service ceiling is 7600 meters, the maximum altitude is 12100 meters, the flight duration is more than 24 hours (the message indicates 50 hours). The payload is 750 kg, there are six suspension points for placing weapons. The drone is capable of using the entire arsenal of high-precision weaponsdeveloped by Turkish companies specifically for UAVs.
Aksungur has an installed Turkish-made satellite communication system, in the version for sea patrol or reconnaissance, it is equipped with an optoelectronic surveillance system, a camera, a radar, and a laser guidance system.
