Indian Air Force replenishes with another batch of French Rafale fighters
29
The Indian Air Force received another batch of French Rafale fighters, and the planes landed at the Jamnagar airbase. This is reported by the Indian Ministry of Defense.
Like the previous parties, the fighters arrived on their own, making a non-stop flight from the French Bordeaux-Merignac airbase, covering more than 8 thousand kilometers. A-330 MRTT refueling aircraft from the United Arab Emirates Air Force joined the group on a certain leg of the route and refueled in the air.
UAE air tankers are used during all fighter flights from France to India, except for the very first, when aircraft landed at the Al Dhafra airfield in the UAE for refueling fighters and resting pilots.
How many planes arrived in the last batch is not specified, but taking them into account, the total number of Rafale has reached 29 fighters out of 36 ordered. The rest of the fighters will arrive in two batches at the beginning of December this year and at the end of January next.
All French fighters enter service with two squadrons - the 17th already formed under the name "Golden Arrows", based at the Ambala airbase, and also the 101st Falcons squadron, which is still being formed, based at the Hasimara airbase near the border with China. Full combat readiness of the first squadron is planned to be achieved by the end of this year, the second - by the end of the next.
