There was footage of a training sailing ship of the Brazilian Navy crashing into the bridge
The sailing ship Cisne Branco (White Swan) is part of the Brazilian Navy as a training vessel. He recently set off on another voyage: the ship was to come to Ecuador, to Guayaquil, where preparations are underway for the Latin American Sails sailing regatta.
Competition "Latin American Sails" will be held in honor of the 200th anniversary of Brazil's independence. Teams from different countries of the continent will take part in them.
On the way, a Brazilian sailing ship was in trouble: it crashed into a pedestrian bridge connecting Guayaquil with the Santana island in Ecuador. Ecuadorian tug arrived to help the sailing ship fleetbut he rolled over while completing the assignment.
According to the Brazilian Navy, none of the crew members of both ships were injured. Currently, the investigating authorities are investigating the causes of the incident. The captain of the port of Guayaquil, Daniel Espinosa, was forced to take measures to prevent pollution of the river as a result of the accident.
The Brazilian Navy believes that the incident could have occurred due to the strong current of the river. The ship is currently awaiting transportation to the local harbor where it will be repaired and checked before leaving Ecuador.
Meanwhile, the place where the accident occurred has repeatedly hit news summaries. So, in 2017, a bridge span collapsed here on the island. In 2018, a ship collided with a bridge to the island of Santana from the city of Duran.
