China has tested the most powerful monolithic solid-propellant rocket engine developed by the Chinese Corporation of Space Science and Technology (CASC). According to the press service of the CASC, the tests were recognized as successful.
The new engine has a thrust of 500 tons and a diameter of 3,5 meters. The corporation said that the company's specialists developed this rocket engine independently using the most modern advanced technologies. At the same time, it is noted that he is the "most powerful" in the world.
The CASC stressed that the development of the rocket engine shows significant progress in Chinese space technology designers. The novelty is positioned as one of the elements in the development of promising heavy launch vehicles for launching manned spacecraft into space and lunar exploration programs.
It is noted that this development is not the only one; the corporation is currently developing a new five-section rocket engine with a diameter of 3,5 meters with a maximum thrust of more than one thousand tons. At the same time, a three-section solid-propellant rocket engine with a diameter of 3,2 meters is already ready. Its thrust is unnamed, but it is said to be the "most powerful" rocket engine in China.
China is quite active in implementing the national space program, conducting several projects at once. Currently, the Chinese have begun building a space station by launching the Tianhe base module into orbit. Soon two more will be added to it, the completion of construction is scheduled for 2022.
Beijing is set to implement a lunar program by building a lunar station. It is for the exploration of the Moon and the delivery of cargoes that a heavy launch vehicle is being developed. By the way, Russia intends to build a lunar station together with China.
