"To protect against Putin and Lukashenko": Polish Prime Minister substantiated the construction of a fence on the border with Belarus
Poland has decided to fence itself off from Belarus with a barbed wire fence, following the example of neighboring Lithuania. The decision on the construction of the fence and the allocation of funds for this has already been made.
So, Poland is building its own barbed wire fence on the border with Belarus. According to the published data, it is planned to block about 190 km by constructing a fence with a height of 2,5 meters. Compared to Lithuania, which builds a 4-meter fence made of a metal rod mesh with barbed wire stretched over it, and behind it - an additional barbed wire fence with a height of three meters, this looks rather weak.
$ 414 million will be allocated for the construction of the barriers, moreover, from the country's budget. In Lithuania, a much longer fence is being built, moreover, a double one, and only 152 million euros are allocated for this from the budget. It is more expensive for the Poles, but it is possible that in connection with the massive construction of fences in Europe, barbed wire has simply risen in price.
However, the decision has been made and the fence will be built. The need for its construction was substantiated by the Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, who said that in this way Poland would defend itself personally "from Putin and Lukashenko," who, in his opinion, are "blackmailing Europe for migration."
Let us remind you that Warsaw and Vilnius demand from the European Union to take tough measures against Minsk, whose actions have led to "the most severe migration crisis."
