The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine again changes the requirements for a promising army SUV, which should replace the UAZ
As part of the development work (ROC) "Saigak", the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine again changes the requirements for a promising army off-road vehicle. Due to changes in the tactical and technical specifications (TTZ), state tests, which were supposed to start on October 11, were postponed to the next year.
This was reported by the news agency of the Ukrainian defense department "ArmyInform".
A light off-road vehicle, which is being developed for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine within the framework of the ROC with the code "Saiga", must be endowed with fighting qualities. This was announced on October 13 at a regular meeting, which was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine and private enterprises - potential executors of the project.
Colonel Nikolai Yevstratenko, representative of the Department of Military-Technical Policy, Development of Arms and Military Equipment of the Ministry, reports that now specialists of the Central Research Institute of Arms and Military Equipment (TsNII VVT) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine are working on new additions to the existing TTZ.
According to the report, the changes in the ROC are due to the fact that the requirements of the Ukrainian military have changed in connection with the experience gained during the hostilities in the Donbass.
Previously, it was assumed that the UAZ vehicles in service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a diverse fleet of civilian off-road vehicles that ended up in the military in various ways would be replaced by Toyota Hilux jeeps, which are being modernized in Ukraine in accordance with the requirements of the Ministry of Defense. But the Ukrainian defense department criticized this idea, suspecting a corruption component in it.
