Negotiations between Putin and Erdogan: subjects of discussion and directions for compromises

86

According to unofficial data - which, however, have already been partially confirmed in the presidential administration of the Russian Federation - the main sections of the talks are devoted to the problems of Syria and Afghanistan. But if on the Afghan topic the first steps are just beginning to reconcile positions and develop common solutions, then on the list of Syrian issues, the accumulated disagreements will have to be overcome. The Turks, for example, do not like the activity of the Russian Aerospace Forces in supporting the Syrian units, and also the principled consistency in the elimination of paramilitary groups that Ankara does not recognize as terrorists.

For its part, the Russian leadership is also not enthusiastic about the behavior of the Turkish military: launches drones or shelling on patrol routes is often carried out from territories located in the area of responsibility of Turkey. And the process of stabilization and further settlement is hampered by constant accusations of violating previously reached agreements - moreover, reproaches are recorded from both sides.

One way or another, the first statements by Vladimir Putin on the Sochi platform create an atmosphere for a productive dialogue on all items of the negotiating agenda. The Russian leader noted the existence of common points of contact in the sphere of foreign policy interests of the Russian Federation and Turkey, emphasized the growing dynamics of trade and investment exchange between the countries. Putin also recalled that after the abolition of compulsory sanitary measures, the number of Russian tourists in 2021 increased markedly, exceeding by more than a million people the indicators of the "covid" season in 2020.

The Turkish president did not remain in debt, expressing confidence in the benefits of mutually beneficial development and strengthening of Russian-Turkish ties. Speaking about this, Erdogan agreed that the issue of a settlement in Syria largely depends on how easy or difficult the process of reaching compromises is. The Turkish leader also drew attention to the topic of manipulation, repeating: Ankara will not allow attempts to influence the decisions that are made in dialogue with Moscow. This applies equally to the economic component and the sphere of military-technical cooperation.

As a sign of confirmation of his constructive intentions, Recep Erdogan said that they will try to launch the first block of the first Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu next year.

At first glance, Moscow and Ankara tried to avoid sharp corners and do without sensations “in public”. It is possible that the results of the agreements reached behind the closed door of the Sochi residence, over time, will also make themselves felt. And preferably in a positive way. It was not for nothing that Erdogan came to a meeting with Putin, accompanied by the head of the Turkish national intelligence.

It is important to note that the topic of Crimea was not raised in the conversation between the two presidents. Recall that at the UN, Erdogan said that Ankara does not recognize the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the Crimean territory. Dmitry Peskov then made it clear that this had nothing to do with Ankara at all, since it was a purely internal Russian affair.

And already before the start of the talks, informed sources noted that Crimea would definitely not be raised as a topic for a dialogue between the two presidents. Thus, the thesis was confirmed that in personal negotiations with the Russian leader, the Turkish president does not allow himself to move on to topics that can unambiguously strike a blow at bilateral relations. If there is room for discussions and compromises between Moscow and Ankara on the issue of Syria and Afghanistan, then the topic of Crimea definitely does not tolerate any compromises for the simple reason that in 2014 it became part of the Russian Federation on the basis of the popular will.

The Turks did not cope with their homework to control the militants, so Putin summoned Erdogan to the carpet,
Last year, the Syrians squeezed the floor of Idlib, they will now squeeze the rest.

I also noticed the red tie. But this is not about Crimea.

If a red flag is displayed, then it is like attention. And what attention is drawn to has already been spoken in words.

In words, Erdogan was told about the economy that Turkey has not been creating problems lately and the trade turnover has not only recovered, but also showed significant growth. That there are many gas pipeline projects, nuclear power plants, s400, large investments both from Turkey to Russia and from Russia to Turkey. The number of tourists to Turkey.

The painful points were voiced by Armenia, Syria, Libya.

Leitmotif Turkey and Russia are linked by very close mutually beneficial economic ties. Those. Erdogan be careful because of problems in pain points Turkey may lose it.

Erdogan, when he took the floor, turned on the fool, replied that
there will be NO PEACE in Syria without Russia-Turkey interaction.
Those. like nothing you can do in Syria without Turkey.
On tourism, he said that they travel a little because of covid restrictions and in general, Russian citizens like to relax in Turkey. Those. type not Turkey should be grateful for tourists from Russia, but on the contrary, Russia should thank Turkey for the opportunity to relax at their resorts.

Without who is to blame, there are very serious contradictions between Turkey and Russia that need to be resolved, i.e. there are supposed to be some compromises.

But the Turk has shown a complete idiot who does not mean anything at all. Like I'm crazy about Feng Shui.

I don’t know what it will be possible to agree on, there are great doubts. There could be an option that Syria would be left without clear agreements, but this is a military issue, which, in principle, could lead to a military clash, if not with Russia, then with the SAR. Then if this issue is not resolved, how to negotiate on С400.
Although C400 deliveries with a large lag, if now they agree, then the deliveries will probably be somewhere in 2022-2023.

In short, there are big doubts about the negotiability of the Turk, we will wait for the results.

Opportunities allow, thank God. I sent my friends to Crimea to rest, as S7 once again returned tickets to Montenegro due to covid. Prices in Crimea are higher than in Turkey by a head, the service is worse for two buildings, there is no service at all .... After that, a friend flew with his family, almost immediately poisoned himself in a cafe and the rest of his vacation was spent. People go for two reasons to see those who have never been, people are interested, the second reason is that Turkey was closed. That's all. And now Egypt will be opened .. With whom I communicate - we were in the Crimea, yes, okay, we went, looked at the Swallow's Nest, Ayu Dag, the bridge, and that's it, we won't go anymore, that's enough.

              Agreements are a double-edged sword.
For example, you can agree on how to disperse the edges. For example, four points on the map were taken, and by a certain date it was agreed that the Turks would leave there completely. What will happen if the Turks violate the treaty and leave their people there. That's right, who didn't leave is to blame.

Recall that at the UN, Erdogan said that Ankara does not recognize the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation on the Crimean territory.
We remind Erdogan that the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation, which were held with massive stuffing and falsification, not recognized by the citizens of the Russian Federation, did not prevent these elections from being recognized and held.
The Kremlin did not care what Erdogan thinks and says.
And it is clear and understandable that this will continue to be so.

They let the fog go, but it was not clear what was actually discussed. But the fact that Erdogan rode very quickly along with his scout, and against the background of Idlib's swotting, it seems to me, it was about reducing the territory occupied by the Turks in northern Syria.

Here the result is this: if the Turks get out of Syria, the negotiations are successful, if not, they are failed. If translated from the diplomatic language, it turns out that Turkey has occupied part of Syria, attacks our military through its special detachments, gets annoyed when its militants are responded to and is not going to leave. On the eve of the Syrian offensive, Erdogan came for a promise not to touch the Turks. If it burns out for him - then his victory, if not - ours. And trade relations are the threads for which Erdogan pulls, and ours are already very greedy for winning deals, especially since all these projects are surely "the right one".

In 6 months, Turkey has significantly increased the number of its armed forces in Idlib, including equipment and heavy weapons.
Accordingly, the pro-Turkish terrorists were also trained and armed. In the most recent time, something else has been deployed on trailers. Since they are not preparing to leave the territory.

It is unlikely that the Turks will agree to leave Idlib, at least now. And the SAR is better to digest the territory of Idlib piece by piece. For the SAR, it would be optimal to take some areas of Idlib and a road with adjacent settlements to the border with Turkey and take control of the border in this area. This would make it possible to cut the occupied north into two sections. Get access to Turkey.
The UN prefers to send humanitarian aid through Turkish territory.
And since there is no road to Damascus, everything settles for the militants. And since Damascus can demand to send humanitarian aid through this corridor, as it should be, the UN should provide humanitarian assistance through the official authorities and not to terrorists, militants and insurgents.
Whether the result will be unknown, but earlier there was an excuse that the humanitarian aid was being taken wherever they could. And what was there under the guise of noise. no help known.

If there is a corridor, you can offer to take refugees from Turkey back to Syria. Accordingly, under the full control of Damascus, with registration, identification and issuance of documents.

The withdrawal of Turkish forces from southern Idlib is now being reported. And also a day of silence for the RF Aerospace Forces, so it looks like a certain better understanding has crystallized.

It may not be about the complete withdrawal of the Turks from Idlib, but about the release of some key routes. Damascus is probably also not ready to take control of the entire Idlib right away if the Turks suddenly left Idlib within a month.

And about the levers and who has them thicker ..

Erdogan has elections on his nose and not everything is so rosy. This is what he has personally.

And Turkey, too, is not doing well against the backdrop of the global crisis, the Turkish one is also superimposed.
The other day France and Greece agreed to be on friendly terms against the Turks. Turkey, of course, is a mega great Turan, but it hurts a lot of fronts to form, and the navel can be untied. The number of fronts must be reduced. The fact that France and Greece "sniffed" for Turkey is bad not only militarily, but may have consequences in the economy, sanctions from the EU.

Most likely, the Turks acted as a proxy for the British in some areas. And now the Britons have switched to China, and the EU will perceive the British mongrels as enemies. In short, the Turks need to decide with whom to be friends and do business for a fairly long time. Making enemies out of the blue is not right now.

There are current pressing issues, and there are those that do not affect the situation. Crimea doesn't care what Erdogan says there, what he does or does not recognize. Ships from Sevastopol go through the Bosphorus, don't the Turks slow them down?

Japan, too, does not recognize the Kuriles and regularly puts forward protests. Nobody issues an ultimatum to Yapam.

On the contrary, the fact that the Turks and the Japanese are doing business and diplomatic work speaks of the bankruptcy of their unrecognized women.

Similarly, the United States did not recognize the GDR and the Baltic States, the USSR was doing quite well with the United States.

The Turks also have grievances towards us, for the fact that Russia recognized the Armenian genocide.

Politics is a dirty business ...

Yesterday, when this video was played in the news, the impression was that the Servant is accountable to the Sultan (the first 3 minutes) Putin obsequiously listed his successes in cooperation with Turkey (diligently swinging his legs), and the Sultan with a stone face listened to his "report". It is a shame to look at such "negotiations".
